Btw, England is now in Britsh Summer Time (UTC+1).
After all of this, I still don't know when the game starts and for how long we'll play...let me re-read the thread

We didn't decide yet.
There are 2 options:

1. same time as last week, those who got DLStime activated adopt
2. normal time +1, those who didn't got DLStime activated adopt

I'm in favour of starting at the agreed time +10-15 min even if all members are not present.
I'm also in favour of playing the 3 agreed hours regardles of who has to leave before that, but playing more time would require all members to agree. That includes absent people, so if somebody couldn't make it, they know the AI gets to mess things up only for 3 hours.
I'm against banning tech trading, the unique mechanics it has generated so far is what makes it interesting.

The ONLY way I even suspected you may possibly be building the great library (i was far from sure) was because you kept asking for us to play another 5 turns because "something special" was going to happen then. I had done the same thing when I was nearly finished with Stonehenge, so I assumed you were almost done with a wonder. I had no idea what wonder it was, but since I had 9 turns to go till I finished the Great Library and didn't want to be beat to it I figured I err on the safe side and rush it just in case it was what you were building. I figured you were building the pyramids or something, but I played it safe and rushed it.

Once again, the only information I had was what you said in the chat. If you hadn't said anything I wouldn't have rushed my wonder and you would have built the great library instead of me.

I didn't possess any special knowledge. I just assumed because of your statements that you were almost done with a wonder. I did not know which one. I played it safe by rushing the GL with slavery.

So you, and others, just need to be careful not to give people hints as to whether you are building a wonder. When I did the same thing for my building of Stonehenge I was really debating it, I was worried someone would steal it from me. But I took a chance and figured no one else was building it. I was right, but I was lucky. You, unfortunatly, were not.

As for the time zones.....

I'm confused, I say we just play at the same time we did last week and the Europeans can adjust. Then the week after the US and Australia will change their clocks too and then we will be in sync again.

I also don't support changing the length of the session. We agreed to 3 hours to accomodate everyone in the beginning, its unfair to change it now and screw over Cyber. The biggest problem affecting how long we play isn't the scheduled hours but tech problems. The more we minimize our connection issues the more time we have to play.

Plus 3 hours is a pretty good session. Considering we have simul turns we are going to end up making more progress than our Civ2 games anyways. But stretching the game out is a good thing, not a bad thing. It gives us more time for storytelling and scheming. Which is the whole point.

For those of you considering starting 1 hour earlier, that would mean 6 pm for me which is impossible. I will be getting out of work (as of april 10) at 6pm on fridays (now I leave work at 4:30pm) because as some of you know I just got a new job

So, not to be selfish, if its in the best interest of the whole group (I can understand if some of you don't wanna play until 4 am) then you could find a sub for me, or I'd just start 1 hour (aprox) later and take over the AI, or whatever. Just want you to know that I'm open to the necessity of changing the game's starting time ro 22:00 UTC.

Hey guys.

Let's not get carried away, I haven't really checked this thread out because of all the intrigue going on in the story thread. First of all there's no need to extend the session, three hours is plenty of time and we arrived at three hours because of people's schedules, not because of any other reason.

Besides, everyone's worried about the tech speed ruining the length of the game or whatever, so why extend the time?

And as far as the Europeans go and their daylight savings time; well I'm American so if it doesn't effect me I don't give a sh*t.

When it happens in the US then we'll talk.

Everybody whoms time changed last week should just take that into account.
Deity: why should you wake up two hours early?
Besides that, I think waking up on 8AM is MUCH MUCH better then having to stay up untill 3AM.

Australia (Sydney) is curently on DST, which is GMT + 11.

NOTE: GMT doesn't change with Daylight Saving.

When we go off DST (next Sunday) we are GMT + 10.

BUT if you guys go to DST Britain goes on to DST WHICH IS GMT + 1!!

SO, this means there is a TWO hour differential between us on DST (with you guys on normal time) AND us on normal time (with you guys on DST)

Got that
