  • On what planet are the other civ's graphics less cartoonish than Civ4's? Cause other than the leader heads, Civ4' s graphics are, imo, less or equally cartoonish as compared to other civ's, and civ3 even had more cartoonish leaderheads. Honestly, I've seen alot of people complain about Civ4's graphics, and I don't understand what is so "cartoonish" about them. Maybe you all just need better computers so you can run the graphics on a higher setting or something.
You've just proven signature advertising works!

    • I'm not going to get into whether they are more or less cartoonish than previous iterations, but they are patently cartoonish. It is undeniable. But I don't mind that.

      • please keep the images cartoonish.
As soon as they're realistic I won't be able anymore to see the difference between a lot of units.

        It's a game, not a movie.

Many movies look cartoonish: Sin City; The 300; Beowulf, etc. I have no problem with that.

Well for starters. the huge bug that makes the computer to declare war on you when you start a colony if a previous civ has been destroyed.

The colony issue rarely comes up since colonies rarely come up. And the mercantilism issue is good for balance.
wrooooooong, every other game, and every time you want to start one ourself. The bug is gamebreaking.

Can't all MP players get the unofficial patch and play?
well yes yhe patch is great, but there still remains som major issuies.

                    • I began with civ1 and have played all the variants of civ with their expansion packs both as a SP player and high level MP player.
Civ 2 was a great MP game, but a little boring as SP game, once I began civ2 MP I found SP games very uninteresting, the human element added so much more to Civ2, and most civ2 addicts who hated civ3 were MP players.
Civ 3 began as a shocker, the vanilla version was terrible with crazy levels of uncontrollable corruption etc. However civ3 conquests was a challenging interesting game and provided a lot of enjoyment on the SP level. I never played an enjoyable MP game with any version of civ3.
Civ4 is a game that is enjoyable both as as SP game and a MP game, the first civ version that is enjoyable for both types of play, a real bonus.
There are significant issues with oos, players unable to connect to one and another, and various minor issues that if fixed would make MP play much more enjoyable, and as a dedicated MP player, it is too much trouble to use unofficial patches, so I avoid them like a plague even if they are good.

That's a point for getting (better) glasses, not against more realistic graphics.

So you think that if we all get better glasses, nobody will ever have troubles anymore telling twins apart?

                            • I'm just curious, was there actually any official word about the 'no founding corps under mercantilism' thing being a bug or an intentional design choice?

If it was an intentional choice then it's something I definitely don't agree with. You can have your own corps while running mercantilism, why wouldn't you be allowed to found them?

I think confusing two different people for twins qualifies one for a set of (better) glasses.
