  • SE Asian civ is Khmer. Ballista Elephant can target mounted units in stacks.
    African civ is Ethiopia.
    Gilgamesh leads Sumeria.
HRE is not the Franks but they superpowerful. Their UU replaces Pikemen and has +100% vs. melee and their UB replaces courthouse and gives an extra -25% maintenance. Charlemgne's traits: IMP PRO.
The Portugese are now the best in grabbing unclaimed islands since the Carrack replaces the Caravel and can carry millitary units (it doesn't say if that includes settlers). Joao II is EXP IMP meaning that he has minimal reduced build time for both workers and settlers.
I'm going to HATE attacking the Native Americans. Sitting Bull is Protective plus Totem Pole gives 3 extra exp. for archers.
The Dutch gets Moai Statues all coastal river cities.
Customs House gives extra gold on water tiles.
Darius and De Gualle are the other leaders for existing civs.

Wow, quite the rollout. Interesting leader choices for Khmer and Ethiopian leaders: Suryavarman and Zara Yaqob respectively.

Of course, we've actually known most of the BtS leaders for a year, we just didn't know it at the time. Alexman posted most of them in his CFC poll a year ago.

Question: If you were put in charge of picking the leaders to be included in a future Civilization game, would you pick purely historic figures that "deserve" to be in the game, or would you pick a mix of historic figures AND other famous leaders, even if those leaders were not really in charge...

        1) Ballistas on elephants are awesome.

        2) A teaser of the modified artillery system?

            WTF?

edit: oh, they're UB is equivalent to the Moai Statues. That seems really powerful...

            • Sometimes I suspect no one at IGN actually plays Civ. For example:

The other new technologies appear much later in the game. Advanced Flight lies between Flight and Stealth and allows players to build gunships and jet fighters. More interestingly, it actually makes the Stable completely obsolete. Why ride when you can fly?

The Stable is already obscelesced by Rocketry, because it's one of the prerequesites for Gunships. It becomes obsolete because all horse units upgrade to the Gunship. When moving the Gunship they moved this effect too.

              • Good job, there, Will. Nice to see someone's on the ball...

Interesting picks. I see Monkspider was right when he mentioned that Alexman's question probably included the later leaders.

The dike actually provides production in water tiles. Even landlocked cities who have a water tile in their fat cross can use it, I guess. The Dutch can become a production powerhouse.

                  • The Dutch are now the absolute best civ on archipelago maps. Financial + Dikes + lots of water = +1 hammer +1 commerce per tile and they start with Fishing.

                    • Don't play archipelago maps, then.

Face it, we the Dutch are the best civilization anyway. It's that we're not expansionistic, otherwise we would've ruled the earth!

Ok, the game of earth hasn't finished yet, we can still win a domination victory for real

                                ?

Didn't understand that bit about the Dutch at all. And is Customs House the Portugese UB?

I wouldn't have expected those leaders for the Khmer or the Ethiopians. However, having the Khmer and the Ethiopians in the game softens the blow from the HRE and "Native Americans". I definitely think Charlemagne should be in the game, but as a leader of the French or the Germans. De Gaulle? Fair enough. Is he the most modern leader in the game, along with Josef and Winston?
