    Australia was part of England.
Wait a minute. Are you calling Australia a south-east Asian country?

Incidentally, he was also a hidden leaderhead in Civ3.
Was he going to be the Austrian leader?

Uhm, what makes you say that? So far we know of Babylon, Portugal, Netherlands, HRE, Native Americans, Byzantium and Mayans. Of those, only the Netherlands really broke off from another civ (the Spanish), although even that is a bit of a stretch in the scheme of things (the Dutch obviously existed as a culture and a people long before the Spanish kings inherited their lands). I guess you could argue that the Byzantines broke off from the Romans but that's again a bit of a weak case (it's the western empire that broke off and fell apart) and certainly has nothing to do with colonies breaking away. If Firaxis had been looking for that they'd have added civs like Canada, Brazil, Venezuela, Mexico, Australia, Indonesia, South Africa, etc...

Yeah. I'm kind of surprised you guys haven't seen him already. If you have Civ3 you can open up the files and see him there.

True. If we really wanted to stretch things, from what civs we know about, we would get this:

                America from England
Zululand from the Netherlands (remember, I'm stretching these)
                Zululand from England
                Byzantium from Rome
                England from Rome
                America from France
                America from Portugal
                America from Spain
                Persia from Babylon
                SE Asian civ from India
                Russia from the Vikings OR
                Russia from Mongolia
                China from Mongolia
                Portugal from Spain
Mali from France (1880s European conquest of Africa)
                Netherlands from Spain
                France from HRE
                Germany from HRE
                Celts from Rome
                Egypt from Greece
                Babylon from Greece

All of the first, at one time or another, under control (if not militarily, then culturally) of the second

                • Hey, look what I found! It's yours truly! I had this conversation four years ago! And I had the image back then too! I certainly don't anymore, I don't even know where my Civ3 discs are.

                  This explains it all:

I remember seeing that leaderhead in a scenario. Poland in Middle Ages I think. Thanks for looking that up though.

The ancient leaderhead was a Germanic Barbarian leader (Alaric of the Visigoths, I think) in the Fall of Rome scenario, too.

I also miss the evolving leaderheads.

It was a way to know at glance how advanced someone was. It sometimes scared when I saw them a get a new one about 20+ turns before I get into that age.

No problem. I found it by accident in a Google search. Imagine my surprise at finding that it was me!
