When Firaxis added Genghis to the game, no one cared. When they added Stalin, a couple of people briefly mentioned he was not a very good role model.

For some reason Hitler is different. This thread is evidence of that. If Firaxis added Hitler there'd be a few people out there who will go on forever about how terrible he was. And then someone will argue that he was an influential leader. Then the first guy will suggest that the second guy is worse than Hitler. Then the second guy will tell the first guy he should have been shipped to Auschwitz.

Until people can have a rational discussion about A.H. without needing to use abbreviations, Firaxis will not add him to a game.

Just cuz the guy was bad doesn't mean he should be banned from the game. Not like this is My Little Pony goes to Paris game. It is a game that hosts a variety of "bad guys".

The main reason he is banned is as to not offend the German people.

Now maybe a Jew would have a somewhat more valid arguement (still wrong however) for banning Hitler from the game. But the Germans put him in power. Now that they are ashamed of it the whole world needs to take pitty and censor it?

The point I am making is that censorship is not a healthy solution to any problem. I take issue with the fact that Hitler is left out of the game just because the German people want to hide from their past.

You mentioned that they are "profoundly ashamed" of what happened with the Nazis, and that is why they have certain bans. Why be ashamed? I doubt more than 10% of the current population was even alive during that war.

Yet they continue the policy of censorship... a cornerstone of Nazi ideology.

Just as a side note, some of my comments about German people were in jest. I have worked with Germans, been to Germany, and am in fact part German.

They do have a sort of sinister side to them... can't quite put my finger on it. Ever see the movie "They Live", or the TV show "V"? <--- joke
