Churchill maybe good for huge maps.
I belive they will because when you upgrade a unit to mech infantry they get march.

Not on defense - I was referring to the superiority of those Grenadiers for city attack. Riflemen beat Grenadiers, too, if the Riflemen are attacking.

But isn't that because of a feature of the unit and not of the civs traits?

I agree with you dregor. With Aggressive leaders a gunpowder unit promoted from an archer doesn't get the Combat I added on. I think Protective will work the same way - only given to units that start eligible for the promotions.

Yeah, I just checked that. A Maceman upgraded to a Red Coat for Churchill will keep the Maceman's promotions but will not gain the Protective promotions.

Well in that case there's several units that are unstoppable, in their era, with city raider III, and on the offence. E.g swordsmen, tanks, even infantry (of course they would have to have been upgraded to have city raider, but I think that's the case with grenadiers also). Given a +75% modifier everything looks pretty good. That said grenadiers certainly are nice assault units in their era.

City Raider III Grenadiers vs. Riflemen in cities is a whopping +125% bonus . That's power.

City Raider III Tanks are also pretty unstoppable indeed, though I actually prefer City Raider II + Barrage I. You'll still probably win, but also do some collateral damage.

Not to hurt my own possition, but it will actually be +135% due to the +10% v. gunpowder from CR III. Certainly nasty, but I suppose that's what it means to be a counter-unit

Edit: not to get further off topic, but I've been wondering for a while if Grenadiers get their +25% v. Riflemen when fighting redcoats? Anyone know?

In Moscow I'm currently getting city raider III tanks as soon I make them.

Yes, for all the good it does them. The grenadier bonus extends to rifleman and redcoats, based on my own rooting out of Elizabeth's cities. With Churchill's bonuses applied, I suspect you might as well ally with him until the coming of tanks. (I'm not a great lover of the British empire, but Churchill looks like a great new leader.)
