thanks for the info. i've had some trouble enabling 1280x720 with the vga-out of my notebook (for hdtv) and didnt tried to find ati-notebook-drivers after this disappointing try.

Most of the time the mouse-over help text does not show up for me. Annoying but certainly not critical.
When this happens try minimizing (ctrl-i) or eliminating (alt-i) the interface, most of the time this will bring back the mouseover information, then just turn the interface back to how you want it.

This won't fix the bug, but should help out.

suggestion to those of you with issues:

DO NOT TRY THE WORLD BUILDER.

Thank you, I'll be here all week.

        ---

I have a pretty good system, 2.7 gig processor, 2 gigs RAM, 6600 GT vid card, no problems running the game, but the world builder can get really, really, really slow, and I even turned off everything in background to confirm it wasn't that...

          Hello,

I've tried the game on a notebook equipped with a PIV 2.4Ghz, ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 64MB (some pretty old drivers I guess), 512MB RAM and so far (half an hour playing) no problems!

Btw, some first interface critics: I'm playing it at 1400x1050, cause this is the TFT's native resolution and I think it's impossible to hover over the buttons at the top right and read the information in the bottom left at the same time! So you have to go to the next button and then look down to read what it does, look up and go to the next one...
Same with moving over a tile. I guess the problem is with notebooks, that the very bottom is really way below your eyes. I guess it's not that grave on a desktop PC.

On my backup computer that does initalize the engine and run the game...

            Screen res: 1024x768
            Game loads into 1024x768
Go into Graphics options, bump game up to 1280x1024, play a few turns.
Eye are straining with the text, so bump back down to 1024x768.

Everything works fine up until the next time I research the tech for Bhuddism. The box that pops up with the little statue is off-center, no biggie. But when the tech-tree screen comes up, it is still thinking that I am in the higher resolution, as the popup screen is off-center and a good portion of the tech-screen is not actually visible on the monitor.

And, I cannot close the screen at all.

After a whole bunch of button presses involving the escape key and the space bar, the screen suddenly closes and I can continue playing. Until the next tech is reached, then I have the same problem with the tech tree screen.

All other advisor screens work as expected.

Closing down the app, loading it up again and verifying that the res is 1024x768 and no problems at all.

              A (possible) real bug

So I played my first game last night. I was playing on Settler, Small Map, normal speed. It's about 1962 and I'm fairly far ahead in everything. My culture gave me another city on the edge of my empire from the Americans, and the defecting unit it gave me to defend the city with was one of those mechical soldiers.

It just seemed sort of strange to me as the rest of the units in the city were Archers and Axemen, as were most of the units in the rest of the opponents empire. Isn't that a bug? Shouldn't it have given me a spearman or something?

Did you have the tech for it? Could you build that unit yourself?

Else post a save, I'm sure it will find it's way.

I just discovered Drama and I was messing around in one of my cities when I decided to try out my newly-enabled culture slider for the first time. I changed the culture to %10, but instead of saying "%10" next to the slider, it said something like "@%&".

                  I don't have a save, sorry...

                    • Bug with Culture display in City Overview

                      Screenshot here

Look at the displays in the top left corner for the research/culture/tax rates. The culture rate is superimposed on top of the tax rate, so it looks like garbled text.

What video settings are you using? Mine does not look like yours. I am running full-screen 1280x1024.

                          • I just found a bug (not sure if it has been mentioned as I haven't read the whole thread):

As I build the Pyramids they where located at the south east part of the city, but now it's located at the north west part of the city
This space is empty... or is it?

                              • Mini Map graphical corruption

In this picture the mini map has corrupted. It happened when I Alt-Tabbed out of the game, and is reproducable. Incidentally, when this corruption occurs, if you retire you get the corruption shown in the second picture.

++Issues above caused ONLY by Alt-Tabbing out of the game++
If you reload a saved game (without quiting to desktop) the corruption is repaired until you Alt-Tab again.
