The box is clearly labelled with a minimum specification of 1.2 Ghz. I have no idea where you're getting a 1.5 Ghz minimum from.

It came advertized as 1.2 Ghz minimum spec and I checked that before purchase.

My other specs (512 MB RAM and a video card with 128 MB RAM) are at the RECOMMENDED settings, not just the minimums, as well.

Unless their minimum specs and recommended specs are WRONG, that shouldn't be the problem (though very well might).

    • The recommended video card should be: 64 MB 3D Video Card with Hardware Transform & Lighting (Radeon 9800+ / GeForce 5600+)

Have you tried the Systems Requirements Test link? If not, here is the link:

Check your system requirements. Can I Run it? Test your specs and rate your gamimg PC.

Choose "Civilization IV" and it will automatically check your system for compatibility issues. Granted, it is not a definate answer, but it is a place to start - especially when you are not sure what hardware you have loaded in your system.

Easy Arnelos....I said the 1.5 Ghz was the recommended specification, not the minimum specification.

          • Turning off the wonder movies prevents the crash problem. Thanks.

I wonder how many graphical options I can now afford to turn back ON since the wonder movies were the problem anyhow...

Well, the only thing that I can think of is to make sure all of your drivers are up to date ... Maybe someone else has more more suggestions for you Arrian.

                    • I'd like to report a strange and in the same time funny bug, though I am very sure that only a very few will encounter it

First, a very-very nice feature: you can switch between languages during the game. Sweet.

The first strange language setting I noticed was that the multilanguage setup had french as default (on a game bought in Germany). LOL. They clearly have something with the french

Next thing I noticed is that you can actually change the language from the Options menu and it will apply immediately, without having to restart the game

                      Now, the bug:
After changing the language from english to german (I installed it in english) almost everything was in german, except that after discovering a technology I was getting the written text in german, but the voice read it in english! In the tech tree the already discovered techs were in german and the other ones in english. After clicking on them though, they changed to german as well.
The voice thingy remained though. So you can actually play the game in german and hear the voice of Leonard Nemoy.

                      • Civ4 US version, bought from a Gamestop

Dell inspiron laptop: Intel 1.6GHz or smt like that, 512Mb RAM, ATI Rodeon M9600

When I hit "end turn", it says waiting for other civilizations. but sometimes a blue window flickers for a second or a fraction of it. It's a window saying Settler, Worker, Warrior, etc.

On a "One continent for each" map, I'm playing Indians vs Spanish. There is a Spanish warrior on my continent, but no Spanish city. The warrior must have spawned on the wrong continent.

//////////I have another problem, this time with map sizes. Tiny and huge, and they are the same or very close in size or the minimap doesn't reflect the entire world. Am I missing something about map sizes?////////Minimap expands, no bug

//////////The opening video (the one with formation of earth and evolution from primitive organisms to human) stops playing, especially when I start a game with a large/huge map and it takes well over 2 minutes to start the game for huge maps, though eventually it manages to start.////////Solved, No bug

The minimap expands as you uncover more of the map.

                          • GAMEPLAY BUGS, Not show stoppers (Is Firaxis reading here, I assume so):

*No "Hills" or "Peaks(Mountains)" entry in Civilopedia, but "Ice" is there (Both Ice and Peaks are impassable so "impassable" is not the reason Peaks were left out)
*Free Religion removes the state religion, BUT you still get the cultral bonus in cities with the same religion as your capital. I would think that this would not be the case
*No seperation in Civilopedia under Buildings. The buildings are in alphabetical order, and then the national wonders start in alphabetical order, followed by the world wonders. Maybe Wonders should have their own section?

                            • Yield display has only food

Not as bad as can't get the game to run , but I can't get the yield overlay to display hammers or commerce.

My video card is Gforce4 MX420 with latest drivers.
(Had to get those, to get the game to work!)

Here is a screenshot, (I hope).

                              • Update - Nvidia Crashing to Desktop

Update - on my previous issue #2

What I did between last update and now:
Experienced several crashes to desktop, crashes to blank screen, and crashes to reboot.
Upgraded Powersupply to the 300 Watt recommended power for my video card.
Changed resolution back upwards to 1600x1200 (so as to demonstrated if it's buggy sooner)
Played for about 2 hours and crashed to desktop
I took this picture below on the third turn of the session. Session went fro many turn with progrssive (yet intermittent) graphics problems, then I crashe dto desktop about 10 minutes ago.

Note - Opening video is still playing choppy in sound and video
