    • Bug: When asking an AI empire to go to war with someone, it will list all the Empires, with the ones that it will go to war with in white, the ones it won't in red (which is correct). However, it will often list Empires in white that it has trade agreements with. In the Trade Agreements list, the Empire will be in red, indicating that they will not break the trade agreement. Since declaring war requires breaking the agreement, there is no way to get them to declare war, even though they indicate they will.

To sum up: If the "Trade Agreement" option is red, the "Declare War" option should not be white.

      • I'm not sure if it is a bug or just an interface oddity, but I find it strange how, after hitting F1, it stays on screen, and in the foreground, if you hit F10 or F11.

        • Dunno if Translation errors count as bugs,
but here´s one I found in the german version:

In the progress chart the info screen one of the display options is
          "Elektrizität" (Electricity)

Although this often is the correct translation for "Power",
I think in this context it should be rather be translated into
          "Macht" or "Stärke"
Or turn this into a chart which really displays Electricity, which means that it would show zero for most of the time until it jumps up in more modern times with the discovery of electricity (and the means to generate it)

          • In the manual under Upkeep, it says "... click on the civic you are considering. The Upkeep/Turn value will change to show what your upkeep will become if you change to the civic."

I have not seen this number change - it only changes after I confirm Revolution.

In the manual under Moving a Unit With Your Mouse, it says, "[Right-click] on a space that you want the active unit to move to. The unit will figure out the fastest route to that space...."

It seems to me that the unit follows a V path, and sticks to it, even going up on hills, when it'd be faster to go around.

              5. One of his galleys was in my territory, right next to my capital. I attacked it with a frigate. My frigate just sailed right through it and there was no battle. It was a ghost galley
i had something like this, except it was in the american rev. scenario, right after getting the free privateers. there were english ships, and on the turn they (the free privateers) spawned i could sail through english units as if i was at peace.

              • Sorry if im going over old ground here, but i read to page 6 and scanned over the rest and didn't see this.

The game is fantastic .. if only it would stop bombing to the desktop every so often. I managed to work out that the bomb out is happening at AutoSave .. and I have also had exactly the same thing occur with a standard save.

What is actually written to the HD appears to be the header of the save without the data .. The first 0x56D bytes are there .. and the file ends there. When I inspect a good file (one that re-loads), it starts a whole load of data from 0x56E onwards .. so it looks like its crashing at the point of trying to work out what to write into this file.

My PC is a P4 2Ghz, 768Mb Ram, Radeon 9000 ATI 128Mb card on WinXP prof SP2. Ive not made any mod changes .. its straight off the DVD (Europe).

I can't seem to find any particular event which triggers this behaviour .. but I have to say, re-starting the game, going back to the previous ok autosave is most irritating.

                  _Edit

Also, a couple of bugs I've noticed:

                  1. After I've discovered about 40-50% of the map, if I try to zoom out to the global view I get a CTD.

                  2. I started up my third game and decided I wanted to found (and play with) one of these new religion thingies. So, turn 1 I open up the tech advisor and set myself to research every religion in the game, figuring I've got to found at least one along the way. About 20-30 turns later I look at the date and it's 1200AD??? I quit that game, tried it in another, same happened there. I figured it was a bug at this time, so i tried a third time and sure enough, same results.

                  • Peace Offer Diplomacy Bug

Not sure if this has been pointed out already, but there is a serious bug with peace offers. The bug works like this:

If you offer peace to the AI and demand something (e.g. a city) and the AI refuses - if then you ask AI "what will make this deal work" without clearning the trade table, you will get a message to the effect that in peace negotiations only one party may be required to pay or give something - however your demand will stay and the AI will automatically "offer" it to you - if you then choose the "accept offer" option, you will get what you demanded. I got once 3 cities from AI that way, and I wasn't really winning that much, so this is definitely not something the AI would agree too.

                      • The Internet wonder movie locks up at the end, and I don't get the screen that says what it does, the bonuses, etc. It just hangs there. I can close out of it and resume the game, though.

                        • Ive got a little more on the saving bug, Ive noticed that if I do not order any units and just hit next turn, all the saves (including quick save) are happy .. Ive not been able to pin it down to any specific unit (as Ive got a load of workers, a few military and boats hanging about) and the amount of time it takes to recover from the crash means I could be here all day making single moves, end turns and see if it saves .. etc..

                          • Here's a mildly irritating bug:

If you have more than one monitor, then you cannot scroll the map by moving the mouse to a side of the screen that has another monitor next to it.

For example, I have an extra monitor on the right of my main monitor. Civ runs on the main monitor. If I move my mouse to the right, it goes onto the extra monitor rather than scrolling the view.

Other games that can be scrolled in this way (e.g. Black and White II) do NOT suffer from the same problem.

                              • UI:
in the foreign advisor resources tab if you have more resources than one full line in starts a new one. however this is only visible to about 1/4. (the trade advisor could anyhow be a bit more helpful (eg. which civ would buy which resources/which technologies)

                                minor thing:
civilopedia does not have an entry for:
                                - railroads
                                - the "power" (a small yellow lightning) bonus you get on factories (+50% hammers)
