Match 3: Round 1


On the night before Match 3, Felchum was found unconscious on the walkway leading to his sleeping quarters. It was thought to be an accidental drug overdose until they found the drug in question was vicodin. Grumpius Trollium II was known to use the drug before matches, and he happened to be fighting Felchum in the morning. The day's match was canceled until an investigation was carried out.

Grumpius was tracked down and found sleeping in his own quarters - with a nice girl from Hamburg. They both claimed to have been together all night and had not seen Felchum since they left the bar. When asked about the vicodin, Grumpius found that the bottle he carried with him was missing.

When Felchum finally came to, he said he had had a headache from the hits to the head he received in the previous round vs. Snoopy and swiped the drugs from Grumpius in the bar.

The interrogators were not satisfied, and pressed Felchum further. Felchum broke down after only 15 minutes of water boarding (apparently sea water is more effective than fresh) and Felchum admitted that he hoped to steal Grumpius fighting prowess by using his medicine.

With that settled, Match 3 began at 11am that morning in earnest.

[b]The Doctor vs. Theben[/b]

The two rivals stood facing each other, trying to determine the others strategy. Theben paced around the ring with his shield, while The Doctor kept his shield on his back and his sword sheathed.([b]1:Miss![/b]) Theben was insulted by The Doctor's confidence and slashed him across the chest, a glancing blow.([b]1:Hit!(9)[/b]) The Doctor hacked back with his rapier and mangled Theben's arm. ([b]2:Hit!(29)[/b]) Theben pierced the Doctor in the lung and The Doctor gasped for breath.([b]2:Hit!(29)[/b]) The Doctor swung his body around flailing his sword, and as fate would have it his mark was true, taring a swath of flesh from Theben's chest.([b]3:Hit!(29)[/b]) Theben, undisturbed, stabbed the Doctor in the back penetrating through the injured lung: The Doctor almost fainted.([b]3:Hit!(28)[/b])

[b]The Doctor: 34 HP Theben: 42 HP[/b]

Most of the crowd booed The Doctor's performance, though a notable minority(mostly the Chinese delegation) seemed pleased with the results.

[b]Grumpius Trllium II vs. Felchum[/b]

Felchum seemed woozy entering the ring, apparently not yet recovered from the night's drama. Grumpius seemed furious and more than a bit out of his head as well. Grumpius attacked first, but he swung his staff too widely and Felchum had plenty of time to dodge away.([b]1:Miss![/b]) Felchum couldn't muster up a response([b]1:Miss![/b]), so Grumpius struck again: his mace hit Felchum in the chest but his armor absorbed most of the blow.([b]2:Hit!(3)[/b]) Felchum poked Grumpius through a seem in his armor, but his thrust was so feeble it didn't leave a mark!([b]2:Hit!(0)[/b]) Grumpius, realizing his weapon was of little use against Felchum's armor, dropped his weapon and round-housed kicked Felchum in the face.([b]3:Hit!(15)[/b]) Felchum staggered back, and then returned the favor and kicked Grumpius! But the blow was so feeble it didn't even cause a bruise.([b]3:Hit!(0)[/b])

[b]Grumpius Trollium II: 100 HP Felchum: 82 HP[/b]

The crowd didn't seem too interested in the fight for last place, and quickly turned their attention to the next match.

[b]Snoopy vs. Spacius Maximus[/b]

Snoopy had become a fan favorite overnight, and the crowd cheered at his entrance. Snoopy mistook the sound for machine gun fire and slashed Spacius across the cheek while he was entering the ring.([b]1:Hit!(27)[/b]) Spacius howled in pain and hit Snoopy over the head with his shield.([b]1:Hit!(8)[/b]) Snoopy, unfazed, stabbed Spacius in the upper arm striking an artery.([b]2:Hit!(27)[/b]) With his white armor stained red, Spacius ran and collided with Snoopy, sending him off his feet and his head collided with the ground.([b]2:Hit!(26)[/b]) Something seemed to stap in Snoopy's head after the collision: he realized he was no longer in the air over Europe, that he appeared to be in some sort of arena, and that a crazed man in red armor with a sword was hovering over him! He came to the only logical conclusion: he had crashed over Germany, captured, drugged up, and was being forced to fight a German deserter or another POW for the entertainment of the Junkers. Snoopy, deducting all this in an instant, found that he had a silver dagger and stabbed Spacius in the foot.([b]3:Hit!(17)[/b]) Spacius yelped, and then struck down on Snoopy's exposed backside with his sword.([b]3:Hit!(33)[/b]) Snoopy collapsed in pain, but luckily for him the round ended.

There were whispers exchanged between the owner of the rig and three of the Arabic men before the 3rd match. This conversation did not go unnoticed by the roustabouts. Rumors started to spread that the owner was going to sell the rig, maybe all the riggs, to the Arabs. The roustabouts didn't much like the owner, in fact they despised him, but working for a bunch of Dune coons?! The chatter stopped when the next round started.

[b]Felchum vs. The Doctor[/b]

Felchum still didn't seem quite right when he entered the ring. His first attack made contact with The Doctor's elbow, leaving a slight bruise. ([b]1:Hit!(4)[/b]) The Doctor laughed, and decided to mock Felchum by imitating his attacks.([b]1:Hit!(4)[/b]) Felchum rubbed his bruised elbow and slashed accross the lower left arm, drawing blood but causing no significant damage.([b]2:Hit!(4)[/b]) The Doctor did the same to Felchum's arm, causing the crowd to roar in laughter. ([b]2:Hit!(4)[/b]) Felchum managed to hit The Doctor one more time, nicking his ear.([b]3:Hit!(4)[/b]) The Doctor, bored of his own mocking, stabbed Felchum in the gut with his rapier. ([b]3:Hit!(20)[/b])

[b]Felchum: 72 HP The Doctor: 88 HP[/b]

The crowd wasn't unhappy with the results, but they were hoping for a knock out. They through empty bottles at Felchum's head as he left the ring. Sadly, they all missed.

[b]Theben vs. Ludd[/b]

Ludd the Great, Ludd the Invincible, Ludd the Dull, entered the ring with Theben. Ludd had yet to take any damage in a match, and he planned on keeping it that way. To his credit though, he charged Theben when Theben refused to attack.([b]1:Miss[/b]) Ludd had trouble turning when was running, and Theben had only to step out of the way when he saw Ludd running towards him.([b]1:Miss![/b]) Theben attacked next, but his sword could not penetrate Ludd's armor.([b]2:Miss![/b]) Neither gladiator dared to attack again.([b]3:Miss![/b])([b]2,3:Miss![/b])

[b]Theben: 100 HP Ludd: 100 HP[/b]

Beer bottles rained down on the ring as they exited,leaving shattered glass spread accross the helapad.

[b]Grumpius Trollium II vs. Spacius Maximus[/b]

The gladiators stepped into the ring gingerly, glass crunching under their feet. Grumpius swung his tri-staff at Spacius' head, although missing, it through Spacius off balance and he fell face first into the glass covered pavement. ([b]1:Hit!(21)[/b]) Maximus yelped in pain and tried to pick out the shards embedded under his eye lids, temperarily forgetting about the fight.([b]1:Miss[/b]) Grampius took advantage of the situation and hit Spacius in the legs, causing him to fall back into the glass.([b]2:Hit!(16)[/b]) Spacius got up, managed to trip Grumpius and started hacking at him while he was down. ([b]2:Hit!(39)[/b]) Grumpius garbed the hilt of Spacius sword while Spacius was swinging it, and with his other hand rubbed a handful of broken glass into Spacius' already mangled face.([b]3:Hit!(28)[/b]) Spacius then kicked Grumpius in the shin,causing him to release his grip on the sword, and Spacius cut Grumpius' side. ([b]2:Hit!(21)[/b])
