  • Tried playing the regular Fallout 3 (no DLC) on my PC again. All patched up with latest Nvidia drivers.

Was playing 10 mins before it crashed on me.

    Unplayable.

      • Nothing to figure out. All my other games are rock-solid stable.

        Just hit the delete button.

Play it on the console. Isn't your boy done with Fable by now?

            • I'm not buying this game twice.

              • I still haven't been able to play it without it crashing.

I still need to try turning off all effects/etc.

I don't really want to, my system is pretty close to top (4850 is the only thing which isn't quite top) and I should be able to play with fancy effects.

I understand your annoyance but you are cutting off your nose to spite your face. It's one of the best (if not the best) games of last year and you have to play it. You can get the 360 version for a decent price now.

If it makes you feel better download the next PC game you play to even it out.

                  • It is decent. Not worth buying it twice though. I'm sure they will get it patched some time in the future.

Bethesda Softworks has a not-very-good track record when it comes to patching their games.

                      • It's just a big lesson to me, is all: PC Gaming really is dead. Do not buy PC games.

                        • I disagree of course But lets face it Fallout 3 was designed for consoles first and foremost - any game like that(looking at you Oblivion) will always be poor on PC imho.

thats the state of current AAA PC gaming sadly, and for AAA mainstream games it doesn't look like changing any time soon. Buy console games if you want the better game experience. leave the PC for the more unusual/PC only/Indie type games

                          • I recently got Fallout 3. Runs perfectly on my pc (as did Oblivion).

Enjoyable but I'd have preferred it to be bigger. I thought Oblivion was better, it's map seemed larger and there were more side quests.

Morrowind was bigger than Oblivion, Daggerfall is batsh*t insane crazy big compared to Morrowind. There is a growing trend at Bethesda to prodice smaller, higher detail(mostly graphical) game 'worlds', with paid for downloadable extra content.

I'm glad i jumped ship with Oblivion It's for console gaming now

                              • I played Morrowind, don't remember it being bigger than Oblivion but I've a poor memory...

It's the side quests that I miss most. They might have a similar number of stand alone quests in Fallout 3 but they're missing all the guild quests. And the main quest was shorter.
