I'm with you on this. When characters mention a location that they've been to, it ought to pop up.
    John Brown did nothing wrong.

That vault had hallucinogenic compounds in the atmosphere. Your character is imagining people from his or her childhood in the Vault.

      • Vault 106 was probably my favorite part of the game.

        • The quest for Agatha was mine. I don't know why, but something about her love for music really spoke to me. I listen to her radio station the whole time now.

          • THat sounds promizing. That is what made Morrowind better for me then Oblivion. I never really cared about anyone in Oblivion.

Sorry to respond so late but I just wanted to say that this wound me up too.

The trick is not to head down to the bomb because there's only one hidden path up to the supplies. If you go the right path past Lucas Simms house it's much easier.

                I'm doing that quest ATM.

                Spoiler:

I ran into a town overran with deathclaws on the way

Nothing my Lincoln Repeater and Combat Shotgun can't deal with though.

                • Is it my imagination or does the amount of damage you do with small guns also scale with that skill? It is not clear from the description.

                  • I think it does. My last level (4-5) I dumped all my points in small guns and there was a big improvement.

                    • It's the same with all weapon skills in the game. Small guns handles pistols, rifles, and SMGs. Big guns handles the mini-gun, missile launcher, and Fat Man. Explosives handles grenades and mines. Energy Weapons covers lasers and plasma guns, though I think the gatling laser falls under big guns. Melee weapons covers knives, swords, pipes, hammers, et al. Unarmed covers your fists and weapons similar to brass knuckles and power fists.

Technically, each weapon has a damage rating. The actual damage is reduced from the rating if the condition is less than 100%, if your skill is less than 100, or both. I have an assault rifle that is 64 damage, but it's at 100% condition with 100 small guns. If I go too long without repairing it that drops. Frag mines for me don't do that much damage, because I never raised my explosives skill.

                      • Nice to know now that I'm level 18.

LOL, there was a bobblehead in vault 101, at the time I think I even remember seeing and thinking, LOL a bobblehead.

Now I can't go back and get it. They won't let me back in.

                        • Have you been there twice? There's a side quest that popped up once I got a certain way through the main quest. There's an incident in Vault 101 and you're asked to go back and help solve it. I am not certain what the trigger is for that side quest, but if you haven't done this then you'll have another opportunity to grab that bobblehead. That's the Medicine bobblehead, by the way.

                          • I just saw a really cool encounter today for the first time.

After a point in the game, Enclave waypoints appear around the Capital Wasteland. They're usually well defended.

I happened across one that was littered with Enclave bodies, stripped of their gear. In their place were a load of Raiders, some wearing Enclave helmets, others wearing Enclave style armor.

It surprised me and I thought it was a decent nod to the game's verisimilitude.

                            • My hand has been kinda aching, so had not played much lately.

I went back and restarted and this time used my Babe Ruth mode..a.k.a. baseball bat and this helped immensly with gathering ammo.

I am at Springvale school and found some shotgun shells, is there a specific location I can find a shotgun?

In addition, has anyone found it necessary when you look at a string of lockers, do you have to check everyone?

                              Thanks!

This is a very fun game, just have to pace myself with my left hand, kinda hard to find a correct angle to play at without it throbbing.

                              But, I shall persevere!

On a related note, me and mrs Troll are headed out on vacation to of all places, Washington DC, for a week and some, we will go to the Kennedy Center twice, on December 28 for Andrew Lloyd Webber music and then for the National Symphony Orchestra on New Years Eve. I was thinking, hope I dont run into any raiders.. or mutants

                              • Most guns you pick up off of dead bodies, so make sure you keep checking the raiders. The boss at the top of the school might have one - he certainly has something that's better than a pistol.

In terms of lockers it appears inconsistent. You can usually tell if you've looted it though by seeing whether the 'empty' label comes up, unless you are leaving stuff in the locker.
