  • When I first met Reilly on the bed, I wanted to make her my g/f. She told me to go find her friends and save them. I thought that might win her heart, but of course I failed saving them. So anyway, I searched for Reilly's hideout and finally found it, thinking I would get a reward she scolded me upside down and told me to leave her alone.

Now I am stuck with a predicament. Should I blow her head off point blank with my sniper and takeover her hideout as my own, or let her heal and see if she comes around? I'd like to make her my companion.

Yes. The level cap is 20. Now, for the main quests, there's always a way around computers or locks; you'll find a passcode or key. This is not true for anything else. I highly, HIGHLY recommend that you pick one of those and take it up as high as you can. You can get 10 points in that skill by finding the bobblehead for it, you can get 15 points in that skill by taking 3 levels of the perk for it, and you can get 1 point for each skill book you read (2 points if you have the Comprehension perk, but you might not be able to take that one with a 2 Int).

      • Anyone facing this problem?

Says I need 25 explosives to disarm the nuke, but my explosives is 30.

As far as the nuke, 30 should do the trick. I'm not sure why you're having trouble.

          • I've been wondering about the bloddy mess perk.

My kills are already pretty bloody with missing limbs etc.

It is funny to be able to search the eyeball of your victim for loot.

I can't even imagine if it gets worse as headshots at close range with the combat shotgun are pretty gross as is.

I had another WTF moment last night. I finally figured out how not to get lost by following the map marker. Not so much the one on my compass, but the actual one on the mini map, which I now know marks the exit I should be taking.

Prior to that, it was taking quite some time to go from location to location (so I can see why it is there as frustration factor was getting high). It took about 75 minutes for me to go from the hotel to Reily's hideout, but I did do some exploring along the way, including the before mentioned artillery strike mission.

And I had my third lock-up/crash thankfully it was on exiting the game and I managed to be able to ctrl-alt-del and kill it.

            • Bloody Mess is marginally useful. A couple of times I shot somebody high up and couldn't reach their body. Bloody Mess allows you to search their gobbets for their loot.

              The +5% damage is insignificant.

              • Bloody Mess isn't really about being useful though. It's always just been a mostly cosmetic change. I like it, just because I always used the trait before.

                • Yeah, this game's bloody mess is even better. Because bodies are just as easy to search (if not moreso).

In the original FO1, it made it a pain to search bodies if you had bloody mess and certain energy weapons.

                  • Well, it's here. The G.E.C.K. is out. That's the level editor if you don't know. Let the mod-making commence!

                    • It's just for Windows, right? Can you use it for the XBox360 version at all?

                      • Negative. The level editors are generally PC only. That's the one big advantage the PC has over the modern consoles. The mods made the game on Oblivion and Morrowind; I expect once the bigger ones are out they'll have similar impact on Fallout 3.

                        • Excellent!

And there are already mods out there. The famous DarN has his version of the GUI out, for something better suited to PCs. A mod allowing the use of misc. items for repair - glue for repairing clothes, scrap metal to repair weapons, etc.

                          • This game seems much more modifiable than any TES series just because the combat is more deep.

                            • I haven't finished the game yet. I fear I am not even 1/10th of the way through after realising not long ago how easy it is to walk past an important place without noticing it. The game is too big!

                              • Another crash last night. Total lockup when changing rooms. Had to hard power down, then on reboot, my mouse would not work well. Did another reboot and it came back. What a nasty little game.
