Deathclaws are mostly only in one place - you'll need to go there eventually but largely you can avoid them most of the game.

I dunno... I came across a computer terminal, compulsively hacked it, and out came a deathclaw from a cell. It ignored me initially, and set to attacking everything else (bots, soldiers) in its sights. I decided to take it out whilst embroiled in said battle, lest it turn its attention to me."My nation is the world, and my religion is to do good." --Thomas Paine

I just wanted to put a word in for Lincolns rifle Glad I didn't sell that one. I sold the rest.
Oh and funny thing happened, I lost my dog once when I reloaded my game, he just vanished, didnt die. So many many (game) days later, it pops up a window saying my dog is waiting for me at Vault 101. Did I accidentally send him there and did it really take him that long to get there??be free

You probably didn't send him there - I've had the game do that on occasion. It could be one of a few things:
1. If you get to Tranquility Lane (you'll definitely know this when you see it) all your NPCs will be in "wait here" mode when you leave. You have to talk to them first to get them to follow you. I don't know if this will affect Dogmeat - it's possible he reverts to 101 if he falls behind.
2. It's conceivable that you might head over some terrain that your NPCs have difficulty following. This has only ever happened to me with Dogmeat, the other NPCs seem to keep up okay. I suspect this is more of a glitch than an actual intended programming feature."lol internet" ~ AAHZ

Oh and do any of you have advice for deathclaws?
I don't think i met a single death claw in the game. I did find a dead one and lots of Outcast Brothers but other than that no sign of them.
I wasn't sure if there was a timer for Raven Rock or not so ran through it pretty quickly. Did the same with the vault at the start. Is it safe to take my time? very few of the quests seem to be time dependent.

Really? I beat the game without seeing a single Deathclaw, except for the one I released from Raven Rock.
There's also the Deathclaw sanctuary, which is a nice place to find them

So you have to "release" the deathclaw, versus it just attacking you
Deathclaws can be very nasty, but my guess is that the Alien Blaster is a good weapon against then... well, a good weapon against anything actually. Though I haven't encountered any deathclaws after finding this nice little toy, so I can't say for sureThis space is empty... or is it?

Old Olney (and the sewers beneath it) are chocked full of deathclaws. I've seen them rarely wandering in the northern part of the map, but it's always been fairly close to Old Olney or the Deathclaw Sanctuary.Age and treachery will defeat youth and skill every time.

Had a moment of brilliance last night. I'm only level 10 and have not even done any main quests besides visiting "dog."
I'm working my way through the side quests on the Craterside supply girl's adventurer's guide. One of the chapter three quests has you go to a location on the South east part of the map, but not in the DC ruins.
I noticed a road from a sewer entrance that I had previously found that lead there, so I quick traveld to there and started down the road.
The road was stocked with raiders that were not a problem, and every so often I would save, just incase.
Finally, right past the Nukacola plant (which I had just found) there seemed to be some raider hangout where one of them even had a missle launcher. There was a mark 4 turrent on the bridge overhead that I had not taken out yet, but did take out waht I thought was all the radiers.
So I go back to loot one of the dead raiders in this huge cluster of old cars. I climb up onto the first couple of cars to get to him. (I killed him while he was in the cars with the Chinese assault rifle).
I'm standing over him about to hit the E button and I here this ping of a bullet hitting one of the cars. I'm not sure if it was me or that freaking turrent, but the next thing I know is I see a huge explosion all around me and then my body floating about 60 feet in the air with all 4 limbs gone, then crashes down to earth.
Luckily I did not have to go back too far on the last save, but kind of funny. Not sure if the turrent fired the shot, or me. My mouse left button is extremely sensitive.
But as par for the course, the game/computer froze on the reloading screen, a good excuse to call it a night.
Has anyone had an issue with having the game in the DVD drive when your computer boots causing the boot to hang or be very slow? (I might have DVD in front of HD in the boot table). We're sorry, the voices in my head are not available at this time. Please try back again soon.

If it was just a single ping you heard, it was probably not the turret. If you were on the lower level, there's a raider sniper nearby, assuming you are where I think you are. The Arlington Library?Age and treachery will defeat youth and skill every time.
