  • That's the quest I was referring to, but before I did that one I did one where:

    Spoiler:
I had to find a picture of the Lincoln Memorial and make sure it wasn't occupied by super mutants. Once I reported back on that, I was supposed to meet the guy at the memorial, and he walked the entire way rather than fast travelling.

Because I had that experience first, I decided to play it safe and walk back.

I'm going to start a second play through now, but I need to decide whether I want to play nice and disarm the bomb in Megaton or nuke the place to get the luxury suite in Tenpenny Towers.

    • You can get that suite without nuking the city, though.

      • Interesting how the Chinese pistol is largely useless, but the Chinese Assault Rifle is a beast.

Also, for the Chinese to actually have gotten through to the US capital, I can only assume that they have far superior projection capabilities in the Fallout universe than they do in the real world.

        • Maybe they sent infiltrators or something after the nuking?

            • In the FO1 instruction book it mentions that the Chinese invaded Alaska. In the FO2 game you actually get to visit the Chinatown in Los Angeles, which is populated by descendants of a Chinese nuclear submarine crew, and they call themselves the "Shi4". (Which may come from the Chinese character 士, which is a somewhat classical way of saying "person" or "gentleman".)

I'm eager to go exploring more in the game and see if there are surviving descendants from Chinese soldiers here too. It looks pretty promising, given the Chinese artifacts around.

I'm not too sure what the Chinese military signal is saying though. It sounds like "Wai4 sheng4 wai4 sheng4", which may translate as 外胜, perhaps meaning "victory" or something similar.

              • There's a Chinese radio station that broadcasts in a certain area of the D.C. ruins, it's almost like Tokyo Rose during WWII, propaganda in English (better than Engrish). It's a weak signal, you have to be in a small area to pick it up.

I've seen some Chinese guys in the game; one lives in Tenpenny Tower. Apparently they actually invaded the east coast, but not very successfully.

                  • The game is depreciating for me.

Games seem better when you get them within days of release. But I have to wait 11 god damn days in Singapore before release date (13th of Nov). It's just too many days to wait. The excitement is gone, now its just down to those hardcore players who look under every rock.

It's things like this that cause piracy. I have not downloaded it, and I am not going to, but it must be said that huge delays like this are not cool.

The war happened in alternative 2077 where they invaded Alaska. In our own universe China may have superior capabilities to project power by 2077 than the US.

                      • I've played the game for 8 hours straight.

Its awesome. Question: Where can I see how many days I've spent in the wasteland? Also, how hard is the quest to rid Bigtown of supermutants?

How much of this is on consoles and how much on PC's?

                          • Protect Bigtown Quest is quite easy. There are three ways to deal with it
                            Spoiler:
                            A) Activate the Robots to help fend of the attack
                            B) Teach the Inhabitants how to shoot and fight
                            C) Defend the Town on your own

I chose A) and due to a glicht in the Game had to use the console to let the Robots appear. Anyway you fight 4-6 Supermutants which should pose no problem, be wary of their Grenades though, those could accidently kill Towners
Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!

                            • I must say I'm dissapointed at the characters, they're downright dull. I mean hiring a prostitute was no fun, no conversation tree, no naughty noises, no bonuses, nothing, jut a waste of gawdam caps . Also most characters seem like pupets.

                              • Is there a maximum level and how high is it? Do monsters respawn? (linked to previous question) Is monster strenght dependant on your level (like Oblivion), [oh god please no]? Is there a romance sidequest?
