  • Proposed rule for forums:

As soon as someone in a discussion uses the phrase "straw man" he is deemed to lose the argument and the discussion ends.

    • How about you just not use straw man arguments?

      • Don't get too defensive, Vanguard. I don't think it was meant to be critical of you. I think it was more about the shift in conversation away from the original topic, which was what, nearly 200 posts ago.

              I didn't.

When the topic is "Is PC gaming doomed," mentioning consoles is not a straw man. Because increasing focus by game companies consoles is the reason that PC gaming is supposed to be declining. So it is not introducing a phantom bogeyman to mention them

In any case, consoles are not an easy target set up so it can be knocked down. There are plenty of arguments for and against console gaming. Thus they are not a "straw man"

              K?

Not sure you know what a strawman is. It's an argument, not content.

                  • You see, this is why mentioning the straw man argument should be banned. The people who do so usually have no idea what the argument is about. It is just a sort of magic word they mumble to protect themselves.

                    • It wasn't a straw man to bring up consoles, it was digression.

What's more, they're actually cutting console sales because multi-platform owners skip the console version because they can warez the PC version for free.

evidently not. EA is very confused about the state of PC domedness, as we shall see in further items.
