Now i've read a handful of those reviews(gamespot/IGN/eurogamer etc) and not one talks about Spore being in effect a time limited rental game!!!(you can only install it a few times, even if you've bought the game).

No sale EA, this kind of sh*t is a big part of what is killing PC gaming. And I know that is kind of the point, but I am not going to be buying it on console at any point in the future either(when the inevitable happens).

Frankly I feel sorry for Will Wright and all the guys that put the effort into making this game.

So no spore - what's left in AAA PC gaming then?

Seems to me that most of the negative 1 star reviews for Spore are due more to the DRM/Securom anti-pirating system.

As far as gameplay goes, it does seem rather thin (too much width, not enough depth) - probably 3/5 at best.

Yeah. I bought it.

Gameplay is sorely lacking. Far more shallow than most console games, ironically.

Creature creator is cool, but it's not a game...it's a toy.

There's nothing wrong with it if you buy it knowing what it is beforehand.

I think it's worth it for the creature creator and the 5 mini-games it comes with, personally.

But I'm also someone who never bought into its hype nor did I have grand ambitions.

Sometimes the worst sex can be the best when you look back on it. One time in high school I was sure I got a girl pregnant and was really worried but then she got hit by a car (!). That's just one example.

The fun in Spore lies in sort of the same kind of fun an artist has with a paintbrush and canvas. I guess your opinion on those artists is that they should just sell their paintbrush and do something else instead?

That would be a rash assumption. I was under the impression Spore was supposed to be a game.
