Please Asher. I am a little confused as to why you defend your XBox so much when you're smart enough to know which is the better system for gaming. I'm also surprised you claim PC's are the ones that cheat. When in reality, the ones who cheat are little kids - which the majority of, use consoles. (No surprise there as to why either).

Search online for cheats, you will have to scour through the Console ones to find the PC ones. Which by the way, PC players don't bother, unless they want to unlock some easter egg or something.

As for pirating. You should also know that pirating is just as bad on consoles as it is on PC's, and not to mention, the majority of PC players are all grown up now and don't mind purchasing a game if its worth while.

Console players have to suffer with a "get what your given" disease. (Which btw, PC players suffered with for quite some time, but not anymore, we got smarter).

If Christian leaders built gaming machines, they would release a console like PS3 or Xbox where they control you. If Evolutionists built gaming machines, they would build a PC, allowing you to do what you want, find your own way, do it yourself, make it the best you can, play your own way, the best you can. That is called Freedom in a box.

Consoles are Control in a Box. A lot like Apple. So it surprises me, someone like you, can't see the truth. (Or choose not to?)

      Sounds like news from FOX.

So your reasoning for Consoles being better to play on than PC's is because of the couch and Xbox Live?

The couch is no argument, I can set up the same thing with a PC. (And really, who cares about a couch?).

As for XBox Live, that doesn't explain why PS3 is so popular, and XBox Live is more a technical feature than a gameplay feature, it doesn't really bring that much that PC's can't already do.

I don't base success on sale figures. Ever wonder why bad movies get advertisements, but good movie's don't? BECAUSE BAD MOVIES NEED IT, and for some god damn reason, the population buy into it and the sales soar, but its a **** movie; and the good movie gets lost in the crowd, where only the people 'who know better' will go and see.

We've played both versions of GTA IV—quite a bit, actually. We've noticed a handful of differences, some of which you know, some which you may not, many of them hair-splitting. We break it down, from frame rate to controls, after the break.

        Installation
The PlayStation 3 version has a mandatory 3.4 GB hard drive installation that will be the longest 7 minutes and 20 seconds of your life if your chomping at the bit to play. It's initially an annoyance, but PS3 owners will welcome it. There is no option to install the game to an Xbox 360 hard drive.

        Frame Rate
The Grand Theft Auto series has never been synonymous with a rock solid frame rate, something it generally seems to get a pass for. While GTA IV is smoother in general than it's predecessors, it can expectedly suffer during chaos. The Xbox 360 version seemed capable of achieving a smoother frame rate, peaking higher in certain circumstances, such as in confined spaces or during light traffic, but both versions seemed to regularly run at a similar clip.

        Pop-In & Loading
With a huge, seamless streaming world, data must be constantly read from the disc. The PS3 version, with its required HDD install, loads missions a couple seconds faster and decreases pop-in. The Xbox 360 version can suffer from some very noticeable texture loading, as things like trees, vehicles and building signs will regularly pop-in as one tools about town. It can be distracting, especially during high speed chases, and the PS3 version isn't entirely immune from it, but it's not a game killing problem.

        Graphics
The two versions are so close to identical, visually, that putting together a comparison was a challenge. Initially, it appeared that the PS3 suffered from more noticeable aliasing than its 360 counterpart, but after eyeballing the final retail copy, they appear to be on par. I noticed that the paint filter applied to cover some of the game's imperfections appeared a tiny bit muddier on the PS3 version, with night time scenes seeing more streakiness. Some of these minor complaints may be the result of our particular television settings and require the finest of fine tooth combs to assess.

        Downloadable Content
The Xbox 360 version is announced to have two exclusive downloadable content packs for purchase. Details on what will be contained in those two exclusive batches of DLC are sparse, so we can't judge what they'll bring to the table, nor do we know if the PlayStation 3 version will eventually get its own DLC from Rockstar. If you're looking for more GTA IV, and you may very well be after you've completed the core game, you're going to want the 360 version.

        Achievements
The Xbox 360 version has the requisite list of Achievements exclusive to the platform, creative and challenging goals that sometimes go beyond the regular gaming experience. However, as with other GTA games, stat-tracking for kills, stunt jumps, and the dozens of extras will keep completionists on the PS3 side happy.

        Motion Controls
The PS3 version has optional SIXAXIS motion controls for piloting helicopters, steering boats and doing motorcycle tricks. You'll probably leave it off, just like I did.

        Good Vibrations
GTA IV supports vibration in the Xbox 360 controller and the DualShock 3, so PS3 owners won't be left in the force feedback lurch.

The good news for Grand Theft Auto fans is that whatever platform you have chosen as your own, GTA IV excels on both. They are almost evenly matched, feature for feature. Gamers will have to decide which is more important to them, a slightly more technically sound experience on the PlayStation 3 or downloadable content and Xbox Live integration on the Xbox 360.

        Final Thoughts
If this were a personal decision, I'd have chosen the PlayStation 3 edition, mostly based on my preference for the DualShock controller and the performance edge. However, one thing that we have yet to experience is how well the PlayStation Network will handle the online portions of GTA IV, an extremely important consideration. I place less of an emphasis on features like Achievements and Gamerscore, but appreciate how well crafted these features are.

In the end, each version stands on its own, with the only downside to the differences being that those invested in their particularly backed console will expend so much effort focusing on something far less important than the game itself.

BTW, the reason why people are describing the PS3 version as "muddier" probably stems from the fact that the PS3 version uses Quincunx AA while the 360 version uses 2x MSAA. Quincunx is a bit cheaper and less bandwidth-intense, but blurs the image sightly.
I just read this, and I have to laugh, apart from the vibrations feature (which in my opinion is a really stupid feature, similar to having water squirt in your face everytime you jump in water, no - it's worse, more like a puff of compressed air in your face.)

A PC can take all the best and working parts from both consoles, and not have an issue with all the bad parts from both consoles.

No it's not Asher; it might come as a surprise to you, but I know stuff too.

Asher, do it for yourself, muster all you can, and just say it, just this once. "FrostyBoy, I agree on your points."

The reason is I find it more fun. It's more relaxing, I sit at a PC all day and it's a change. I prefer Xbox Live to PC multiplayer. I hate all of the cheaters on PC games.

Just saying I tend to enjoy games on console more than PC. And I'm also saying I'm not in the minority here, you are.

The couch is no argument, I can set up the same thing with a PC. (And really, who cares about a couch?).
I don't know about you, but the vast majority of people (myself included) can't play PC games from their couch.

As for XBox Live, that doesn't explain why PS3 is so popular
PS3 is popular 'cause of Bluray, the Xbox 360 always outsells it game-wise.

and XBox Live is more a technical feature than a gameplay feature, it doesn't really bring that much that PC's can't already do.
You don't get it. The integrated community is what makes it. Steam is as close as it gets on the PC, and Steam sucks ass. This is very much a gameplay feature independent of the game -- integrated friends lists, cross-game invites, etc. It's all a much more pleasant experience.

                What the ****?

I don't even understand what this means.

There are features of the PS3 and Xbox 360 can't do -- you can't "write to the metal" on the PC, and there's no PC out there today that can do the vector computations of the 360 or the PS3. There's also no PC out there with the embedded framebuffer like the 360, or can match its 256GB/s bandwidth.

That said, I don't know why you find this funny. The PC loses across the board in all categories, by virtue of the PC not having GTA4 at all yet.

Reading this thread is depressing. You feel so threatened by the consoles that you come in here bubbling like a teenage girl defending Hanson or NSync.

Co-incidently, that's what I think you sound like.

GTA4 will come out for PC, PC's will surpass Consoles.

I imagine it will come out on PC, and many of us will pirate it when it does.

In the mean time, millions of people will enjoy this fantastic game on consoles.

                    Bitter much?

GTA was originally a PC game. (DOS and Windows).

The number one reason GTA is better on PC is because of controls.
The original GTA sucked, first of all. I think GTA 2 was even worse. I didn't know anyone bothered to play the next three games on the PC. They're action games meant for a controller, a big tv, and a surround system.

The mouse would ruin the game balance, and the few people who have a gamepad for their PC would have to fiddle with the presets, which probably would suck. Also they probably came out late, when the graphics looked even worse.

Wiglaf, if you really believe that, I won't bother disputing you any further, for it would be like me trying to explain Evolution to a Christian.

And Asher, I am not bitter about it at all, I have other things to look forward to, Age of Conan, Fallout 3 and Spore will keep me occupied. Once the PC version comes around, i'm sure it will play better than what you will be playing now.

The core game remains unchanged usually. And if it does change substantially, I'll play it then.

You forget I've got a very high end PC myself..

What're you playing now to keep you occupied?

I think you're missing out on a lot of fun because you're too stubborn. Consoles and PCs both have their niches.

Not true, I have a console in the house, it's not mine, I have played it, but not really enjoyed it, because I feel the lack of a mouse+keyboard, and the control settings for most games are not intuitive enough for me to really feel immersed.

Right now I am playing Creed. But I am more of a modder than a player, so most of my 'gaming' time is spent using the Sandbox2 Editor.
