Had no idea it was released in EU yet, last I'd heard it was Japan-only.
Let me know when GT5 adds the basics like car damage.

Now I have to find a way of buying "Eyes Wide Shut" without the missus thinking that I'd be buying it just to see the naked chicks in HD (which would be somewhat true).

In other news, the latest SDK for the Playstation 3 almost takes the system RAM requirements down to the levels the Xbox 360 has had since launch...this means developers can do more.
First thing this has done is allowed Criterion to issue a PS3 patch for Burnout which allows you to...*drumroll* scale output to 1080i (again, something all Xbox 360 games have been able to do since launch).
Sony's almost at tech parity with MS, but there's still no in-game XMB or anywhere near the feature set of XBL.

And no, we don't live in Asia so no, we don't have GT5 Prologue.
Actually, I have one. That was our Christmas. I'm just not one who's going to claim it's the best thing since sliced bread. It was best for us, but we're not anything aproaching "serious" gamers. I'm baffled by how half the folks here can play so much.
Combination of the Blu Ray and free internet service won out the decision.
Must say, we're pretty happy with it. I have a few complaints with how it handles PS1 and PS2 saves (doesn't segregate them by sign on, but does the PS3 save, resulting in kids deleting my saves). Has a bug with Lego Star Wars that can get annoying, but that's more the game than the system. Online is free, and I've downloaded a couple PS1 games and a bunch of demos, but not really played anything online.
Yes, Xbox live is likely better, but I don't use it enough to justify Xbox live, but occasionally like to pop on now and then. One of these days I'll get around to renting warhawk or something to properly try the online stuff, but the shooter thing really isn't my cup of tea, and not much else really incorporates it right now. Oh, Motorstorm would, I guess, if I cared to play it. (not really a racer fan either)

Rumours going on about a wiimote equalient for Xbox360. But I don't know if I'd trust it, the whole thing sounds odd, and the fact that the sketch looks like a wiimote with a couple extra buttons just don't seem plausible to me. Also, hasn't MS been clear they won't go the way of Nintendo?

It costs them almost nothing to do this, and they absolutely wouldn't make it the default controller for the 360.
I don't think it'll take off, but it's not unreasonable nor unexpected nor going the way of Nintendo.

Wait, seriously? There were PS3 games that wouldn't scale output to 1080i/p?

Or to be more balanced about it they are trying to capture some of what has made the Wii a great success, whilst retaining the virtues of the Xbox.
More likely, they'd want to take a few of the more successful games on the Wii and port them to the X360...

There's no true hardware scaler in the PS3 like the 360. Any and all scaling is game-specific and something the game developers need to implement.
There was a huge uproar when it first came out since early HDTVs are 1080i only, and 99% of PS3 games were 720p...no scaling meant HDTV with 1080i-only played games in 480p...
