  • I found it to be completely identical in gameplay to the last. The single player is "better" but still a bore, the only worthwhile part to the game is local multiplayer with ~4 people -- and that part of the game is pretty stale at this point.

It'll sell extremely well, review extremely well, then collect a lot of dust except for people in dorms...

Caveat: People like DinoDoc will LOVE this game because they can collect Pokemon and Fire Emblem statues and stickers, too!

then I guess the metacritic scores are misleading, eh?

      • Not terribly so, but kind of.

You'll find some people will think it's worth 110% and others 10%. I think it's a fun game with 4 people in a dorm, but that's it.

        • The only game I remember from high school and college that isn't a "dorm type" game is Zelda. Mario kart/goldeneye/ssb are still going strong. Beating women in GTA is nice and micromanaging cities for 3 hours in Civ 4 has its place when it's rainy and your girlfriend is whoring herself out behind your back, but those are the games I've got the best memories of

          • April is now upon us, and with it comes the knowledge that Grand Theft Auto IV will be our grubby little hands before the next month begins.

As each day passes and the April 29 release date inches closer, anticipation and excitement for the first next-gen entry in the best selling series grows at a fevered pitch. Everyone's now realizing how close it is and wants to make sure they've secured their copy.

Look no further than Amazon.com for proof of GTA IV's imminent videogame domination. With 27 days until release, both the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 version have cracked Amazon's top 10 bestsellers list. At the time of this article, the Xbox 360 version is planted in the 4 spot, while the PS3 version resides in the 7 spot.

We're guessing that a week from now, both versions will be permanently secured in the top 5 until release. Watch out, Halo 3. Your reign atop Xbox 360's sales list is in serious jeopardy.

Seems Halo 3 might be taken down as the top selling game on the 360.

Risk is still played in college dorms. Goldeneye, mario kart, and ssb have been replaced.

Sure, if you didn't already own it.

That's not true at all. SSB and mario kart, especially their sequels, are still popular. My point is that these are really classic games, and it says a lot that they can just tweak them a bit and have an instant hit all over again.

                      • Who else thinks the price for console games is just a bit too high? Here it costs about $60 per game; you take a high risk that the game will suck. If I watch a movie, its cheap, only $10, it may suck it may not, but I don't feel like I lost anything. $60 is just way too high a risk, especially considering all the games that suck nowadays.

I played ssb one time when I lived in a dorm and it was with the hairy guy that lived next to me. Halo and its successors were the most popular system link games when I lived in a dorm, I imagine they still are.

Consider a game rental service like GameFly, if such a thing exists in your backwards country.
