My 360 just died today, just when the 360 started to get good games my console has to die. I guess it will be another couple weeks until I play Bioshock.

I installed the game a few days ago, but so far it hasn't impressed me at all. I doubt I'll ever finish the game, I'm already tired if it and I'm only in the beginning (just got telekinesis)

Why? Well... all this throwing fireballs and stuff just doesn't interest me at all. A gun is more fun... except the guns in this game, they're boring and annoying. The only fun weapon there is, is the crowbar. But running around killing everybody with the crowbar is too unrealistic (but possible... almost anyway). The normal gun is ok, but I'm a out of ammo all the time, even though I use the crowbar as my primary weapon (I don't like to waste time buying bullets... why do that when the crowbar is more useful?)
So far I have died once (right in the very beginning, when I couldn't find the use medkit key). Only got close a few times, when attacking several splicers at once where they have guns and I use the crowbar

The game also seems to be a lot of the same over and over again. First you fight of a few splicers, then you walk for 30 seconds, then fight of a few more, walk a bit more, fight a bit more, then hack a bit, and repeat...

The game does have a great atmosphere (even though I don't like this 50'es style), but it doesn't really feel like a city. I wanted to start of by seeing where people live, where they hang around, etc... but no, we just get to start by the local hospital. IMHO a starting location like that is just boring
It also runs much better than Stalker at higher settings... but then Stalker looks much better (Maybe with a DX10 card this will look better)

And this game has also got a very annoying bug... It doesn't reset the contrast/light settings when quitting the game, so I have to spend a long time afterwards changing the settings back... very annoying

For people who like throwing fireballs, this game is probably great. But for me this is not a good game. The game does have a good atmosphere/interesting story, but that's not enough. Without fun gameplay, there's no reason to play it...
This space is empty... or is it?

I've played a bit more and got into the Fisheries. The game is starting to bore me as well. I will probably eventually finish it but the more I play the more negative I'm starting to feel about it.

There is just ammo and health littered everywhere(playing on medium which was maybe a mistake). I too love the wrench and use it a lot. I'm basically full on every gun, and ammo type not to mention health/eve. Enemies seem to keep respawning constantly which is annoying(hated that in SS2 as well). Especially when they are grenade guys but never leave grenades.

I haven't really seen the so called "smart" fighting. Most fights vs big baddies seem easiest if you abuse AI path finding like any other game. I haven't really figured out any ingenious ways to take them out otherwise. You can do a few cool things vs them I guess but ultimately it seems they have so much health that it doesn't really help you and you still need to rely on a lot of brute force.

The story is still fairly interesting, and the graphics/music/sounds/etc kick ass but the gameplay is tedious and boring. Most of the weapons are so ineffective I don't bother using them. Electric shock and wrench still seem the easiest and most satisfying.

          You guys should finish it.

Yep, the actual gameplay is partially lacking, I'll concede that. But there is good fun potential in thinking up ways to kill enemies - you really can do some cool stuff there. Create Molotov cocktails and toss them at splicers. Do the fire-water-electricity combo.

Yeah, the lack of challenge is a big problem. I imagine Medium is a complete cakewalk, given that Hard is just that for about 95% of the game. You do have to limit yourself a bit and create a challenge for yourself.

Still, even if you aren't going to finish it, at least get through half of it. The Ft. Frolic level is midway through the game, and it's a masterpiece of level design. It's a good notch better than the rest of the game - in fact, better than most levels in most games.

I managed to find the combat interesting on Medium mostly by ignoring the wrench and concentrating on using weapons. I also didn't use a lot of plasmids, mainly electroshock and a bit of telekinesis like with rocket turrets or grenades. I also restricted myself to using the Vita chambers as a last resort only - really, it's the same as quicksaving every two steps but with less hassle, IMO, unless you game the system and zerg a Big Daddy. It reduces the "oh **** I forgot to save and have to replay the past two hours" annoyance.

              Spoiler:
Extremely annoying to lose all your ammo that you had been saving just to advance in the game. Now I have to build it all up again. Lucky I had $500. In other news I'm at Arcadia. Taking lots of pictures which is sort of fun and easy with shock. Big Daddies don't really give me much trouble anymore. Tedious to fight them still.

                Regarding the ending
                Spoiler:
I had taken about a week hiatus from the game mid way through because of a bug where my settings went to the highest and the level kept crashing while loading. I didn't find out how to fix it for about a week. Anyway, I had completely forgotten how Suchong died. When Atlas/Fontaine mentioned being a Chinaman for a while, I thought that is who he was talking about. Then I remembered the drill death. Regarding how it went down hill after the twist...I think it would have just been best to either develop Fontaine a bit more before the twist to make him a better villain, or get to him quicker.

Yeah there is. You get ammo back, but that is random as of now.

Yeah, it doesn't "remember" what your ammo was.

When my 6th Xbox comes back from the repair shop, I'll have to play his game.

                            Thinking about getting this:

                            PC or XBox 360?

PC if you have an uber high-end system and don't mind rootkits. Else, 360.
