  • Well, I now know first-hand how difficult it can be to address issues quickly. I'm very happy with the Bioshock patch, though - it fixed the only real issue I have with the game.

Playing through for the second time now, there are definitely some fine things I hadn't noticed before

How lame. I finally got around to finishing Bioshock this morning (work got in the way and I had to put it down). The ending is a bit lame, although the final fight is fun.

I'll have to go through again and play it on hard. The normal setting is too easy. You simply hack cameras and bots and let them kill everything. I ended up with a completely full wallet all the time as well.

In addition in their Overall rankings for all consoles, Bioshock finishes #2 to COD4. And their Overall rankings including PC games, it finishes #3 (The Orange Box is #2 in the Overall rankings including PC games, while it is #4 in the Overall for just consoles).
The Orange Box was the best thing released for the 360 this year, with the possible exception of Mass Effect. The OB is possibly the best value ever.

      • Unless you disable vita-chambers, Hard will only be superficially harder than Normal. You'll just need to shoot enemies more times - which rarely makes a different except with Big Daddies and special characters. Hacked turrets and, in particular, cameras are still extremely powerful.

Interesting that both games have a very similar, instantly iconic scene, with a chilling phrase scralled on a wall...
And both have scored well in end of year reviews.

          • And Gamespot decided to love on Crysis much more than anyone else and Bioshock gets shut out of awards from them (just nominated for them).

            • It picked up some minor awards but yeah, did not feature very much.

They love CoD4 & Crysis which seem to be sweeping up a lot of awards.

              • I really don't see what was big about Crysis. STALKER was really the best shooter of the year.

                • I liked Crysis, but apart from graphical improvements (assuming you have a beast of a computer that can handle it) and the suit, it's just a shooter. COD4 I didn't play other than the demo, but it looked to me like more of the same. I really didn't feel like either deserved the level of raves they're getting.

                  • Well, I remember Call of Duty 1 and that was an amazing game. So I can see how they'd go crazy over CoD4, which is the first CoD set outside of WW2 (in modern times this time).

                    • I have all the games - CoD4 is a worthy winner this year.

                      • I am unsurprised that Crysis gets GameSpot's awards. Gamespot's style is more Crysis than Bioshock, so to speak.

                        • Bioshock's one of those shooters that got me hooked again (still in the process of finishing the game though). The athmosphere is simply inviting us to keep on playing. Reminds me of hexen, half-life, system shock 2 and a series other classics from way back.

Athmosphere is the key to a good game, simple as that. Don't understand what Asher likes in a computer game...
