      The open beta is closed to sign-ups. However, my preorder lets me play on the live servers for the 10 days before the official launch (and we preorder players are not capped at level 15 either)

          Ah, I just thought - the EU release is being run by a different company to the US release. Probably explains the different system.

          Yes, a different COMPANY. Codemasters have bought the rights to run the servers and distribute the software in the EU.

            IMO Europe has a preorder (not capped, I'm 16 myself and there are people approaching 30 on the server), while North America has a capped open beta.

              In the US/Canada, this is how it worked:

              Pre-order customers could play April 30th up til its release, can carry over their characters to the live game, can subscribe @ 9.99/mo.

              Open beta customers just were restricted to joining a week later, can't carry over their characters, but don't pay anything.

              Both are restricted to L15 max in the beta.

                  We EU preorder people also get a "founder" option, either to get a lifetime subscription for € 159 (IIRC) or a 6 months subscription for € 8.99 per month. I probably won't take either option, I doubt I'll play for longer than 2 months.

                      Yours is $199 or $9.99 per month IIRC (which wouldn't make much of a difference, it's just our higher VAT kicking in), or do you pay in canadian dollars?

                          What I tremendously like, is the integrated group speak. No need to bother with alt-tabbing Skype or TS.

                            EVE added that recently. In the intense PvP it isn't necessarily a good thing to have the two linked (in the big several hundred person battles people lose connection often). In a PvE game, I would imagine it would be really nice.

                                If this game is good enough to unhook me from WoW, then I'll get it.

                                It's not that I enjoy WoW immensly, because I don't. I just need something to keep myself occupied or else I will be stalking girls.
