Expectations about the playerbase for DDO were more optimistic than turned out to be the case. This is because the game is not that good and has been largely panned, even by D&D fans. It's really very simple - by any sensible yardstick the game is a flop.
Funny how in the WH40K thread when it suits you you argue that WH40K is more niche than DDO, but will still be a flop!
And the developers of VG did not have enormous expectations about the likely playerbase - their estimates are in the long VG thread and it is fraction of, say, the WoW playerbase. They always knew they were aiming the game at a certain group of players, and although they did water that down a bit through development, that focus seems to remain. Either way, there isn't strong enough data yet about the playerbase to make a judgment as to whether it has flopped.
Your definitions of flop seem to me to vary to fit the needs of your current troll.
