The pricing is set by the publisher, not MS.
Guess what that means...?

All console versions have exclusive content.
Lets be more specific then.
"According to RedOctane’s Kai Hung, the Wii version of Guitar Hero III may sport a few exceptionally unique features that have not been seen in the series thus far. While the Wii version will include all the features included in the other versions, it may bring material to the table such as a Wii Remote slot featured in the center of the guitar. This would potentially provide motion sensitive aspects to the game and would allow for wireless connectivity, something that Guitar Hero II for the Xbox 360 currently does without "

That article is stupid -- the GH controller already comes with motion sensors. :rolleyes;
Here's the "exclusive feature" -- the Wiimote will likely snap inside the guitar to reduce their manufacturing costs of the guitar.
Here's the downside: Little to no downloadable content.
Which is a bigger deal...?

Most of the VC games are pretty short.
And which two Wii games?
VC games: Mario 64, Super Mario World, Donkey Kong Country, Turtles, Bomberman `93. First three is long enough, especially for me who is not particulary good at games. Turtles is a bad game, so I probably won`t play it much. Bomberman is a great party game with much replayability.
Wii games: Zelda and Wii Sports. Zelda is a long game. Wii Sports is a great party game which has much replayability.

Really? I got bored of Wii Sports in about 2 hours after I figured out how simple the mechanics were.
I hit a home run in baseball about 75% of the time now. It's ridiculous...

Play against friends and enjoy the game. Especially tennis is a winner among my friends. We`ve had a few epic rounds with that subgame!

My friends are always too busy wanting to play Guitar Hero and NHL to play Wii Sports.

It's a poll about the game console, not urination. Naughty girl.

Hmm, this poll allowed me to vote in it again. Not that I'm complaining.
I'm focussing on the troika of Mario Galaxy, Zelda Twilight Princess, and Metroid Prime 3. I'm close to doing all of Mario's stars in SMG - I'm on something like 113 stars.
Metroid I'm halfway through the game, collecting device parts with my ship on Skytown.
Zelda I started playing but got distracted when I was halfway through the village.
So whats your overall impression of the console? have you had enough time to form one? I'm not sure what consoles you had before, but you seem to have a background from the games i've seen you mention, so is the Wii a good console with a different take, or just a bit gimicky with a great marketing campaign?
I ask because my partner keeps asking about getting one, but i'm not sure it would bring much to her experience apart from the new animal crossing(and she already has the GC version). And besides she is only 60 hours into Rogue Galaxy on the new PS2......and we've got alot of PS2 gaming to get through! But for the future maybe the Wii will find a place - seems perfect for kids, but maybe that is my misconception?
I would say it's a good console, but if you're a serious gamer, you won't want to limit yourself to just this one. The grand troika of games on it are good enough to justify getting the console, especially given its affordability, but if you're into gritty games with mature plot themes, you'll want to get an XBox360/gaming level PC as well.
If your SO likes any of the three game franchises, it's well worth it. I've also had good fun with the Mario Party series, Mario Kart, and the Smash Bros game, which further its living-room party features. (I do not own Mario Party though.)
XBox360 is a great console for immersive single player games with great graphics - I've done Fallout 3 and Bioshock and I'm about to start Mass Effect. It's also great for online play - I play a few games online against my cheeky brother. But the only "living room party" game that we routinely play on that is Rock Band. Wii comes out of the box with a collection of games that's good fun for casual living room play.
Overall the console's current line up features a handful of really good games by anybody's standards, and the rest seem to fall more into the "capture the casual gamer or beginning gamers demographic" mindset. The amount of third party support this console's gotten is troubling - it's even worse than when N64 went mostly first- and second- party games.
My brother had his Wii a lot earlier than I did, and he blew through a lot of the games faster. He says he rarely ever touches the Wii right now and cites a lack of compelling software releases as the reason. This may be something that Nintendo may solve with more high-profile releases later in the console's life. Even if it isn't, the current lineup is enough for me and for my bro'. He occasionally plays Wii with his wife (who is not a serious gamer and who is currently playing through their library of games) and both of them have DSes.
So it helps if you're a fan of the game franchises on the console. If you aren't, and if you have a significant backlog of PS2 games to get through, then I'd say stick with that and see how the Wii's game lineup looks when you're done.
I finally got some stuff on Virtual Console. Downloaded some of the good old games from my childhood - Super Mario RPG, Super Metroid, Ys I & II, Secret of Mana, and Dragon's Curse (a renaming of Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap). Good stuff.
The main irritation about the VC is that you have to enter your credit card details every time you want to download more Wii Points to your account. It does not save your details, unlike the XBox. But the good side is that the exchange rate is pretty clearcut, with 1 Wii Point = 1 US cent, unlike XBox's exchange rate which is (probably intentionally) irregular.
You do need a GameCube controller around to play some of the SNES games though.
