I've always wanted to attend such a high brow party, and I'm especially thrilled that my sis got to come. She never gets a chance to go anywhere, especially not with another man in tow.

I hope Stanley will be able to watch over her to make sure that she is going to be safe.

As it is I know I am going to enjoy myself and dance with Dave all night, and have a blast with him for once in my life. It's hard having to pull yourself up and be responsible for everyone on your own but tonight I can just let loose with no cares.

I must say we have some interesting couples here. Kitty is a very nice lady she was talking to me about all her paintings at home when I asked her what she did for a living. She says it isn't necessary for her to work, but that it makes her feel useful.

Kitty had to break off her conversation just as the party began to get into the swing of things. Apparently someone important had called her, so she left to take the call in the drawing room set aside for the purpose.

After the call, Kitty came out of the room badly shaken. I came over to her and took her arm to try to comfort her. She told me that someone had threatened to kill her on the phone and expose her secrets had she not complied with the demands for Sam's royalties. She could not abide by such blackmail, so she hung up on the caller. Just before she hung up the caller asked about her diamond brooch that was on her collar and how it had once come all the way from South Africa.

That was when she realised the caller had to be someone else on the boat.

Settling down in her chair, I offered Kitty wine and watched carefully as she took a light sip followed by heavier ones as she steadied herself. After a certain point, the wine no longer seemed to soothe her shudders and she became more agitated before finally collapsing in the chair.

The entire party suddenly stopped as they clustered around Kitty. Rather then quickly reviving her, she was dead!

A quick investigation, by Roger England, the chairman of the Yachting club found arsenic on the glass, which someone had obviously tampered with earlier. The immediate suspect had to be the waiter who would have kept all the glass and silverware to himself before distributing it to the partygoers.

Once the arsenic had been confirmed, all the dockworkers and the entourage were confined by the Chief of police to the boat where they were permitted to do what they wanted provided that they did not leave.

Such a sad twist to a once happy evening! I hope we shall be able to find the killer before any more of us are dead.
