Yes, I could have, but that would have ensured that my fleet died even if I had a numerical advantage. Not quite the result I was looking for. Besides, if Ben Kenobi had gone for MLL instead of LML, my Backing Off would have been the ideal strategy; the effect of his lasers would have been blunted, and my fighters would have allowed me to pull off a victory. Not much of one, with my allies dead and 70% of my fleet gone, but a victory nonetheless.

Alas, it was not to be. Hats off to my opponents, once again, for their efficient use of extreme violence.

did all you folks flunk out of spy school?

Two spy actions proved costly for their leaders today:

1. Jaguar could have cakewalked onto Tassadar's five bases with a single ship, and then held on against an allied invasion by Joncha and Ben Kenobi. - who did not order to attack anyone.

but, he spied Tass. So Tass's 59 laser ships stayed home, and munched Jaguar's fighters.

2. Tass had his own blunder though. His spy stopped Joncha from joining Ben Kenobi in a doomed allied attack. However, the two laser fleets had matching OoBs. Tass would have ate them both for lunch instead of just Ben's.



The real winner in all this, ironically, was Ben. While his fleet was annihilated, he was saved from becoming baseless.
