  • Circle kick is often very annoying, as it forces you to select a new target. It's far better to have 2 out of 3 enemies dead than 3 enemies 2/3rds dead, which circle kick often results in.
    Play hangman.

I just started the second act and my character is currently M7/SD2 and ready to level up again. I think I'll take several levels of Monk before I do any more Shadowdancer levels.

Return to Ravenloft and Beyond the Gate are a series that you can start from level one.

Valley of Shadows is stand alone (and I think needs a level 10ish character).
I´m going to try those, thanks

I never tried a monk, I have always liked to play a wizard and cast powerful spells . I always had problems with monks, they tend to resist everything I have, except for the multiple Magic missile spells and Bigby´s hands , I hate them

      • Isaac's spells rip monks to shreds.

        • Yes, circle kick is the bane of monks, although if you're fighting a boss and have cleave too then you can sometimes get back to the main action with a free hit. Most of the time it's utterly annoying.

          • Isaac's spells rip everything to shreds. Unfortunately. Talk of an unresistable MIRV, how could it get more imbalancing? What were they thinking? If the AI casters would actually use it, it could retain some sense, but I have never seen one (except Drogan in the SoU intro, but that's a script).

            • It was obviously supposed to have a save, but they forgot.

              • Yea, probably. Good thing they didn't forget to add damage.

                • I think the next time I use a Monk, I'll go with Red Dragon Disciple (with one level of Sorcerer thrown in). That way I can really maximize my unarmed combat abilities.

                  • Best monk is pure, with the exceptions of various powergamer abuses of taking 1 level in other classes.

Yes, but better to play that GAME powerful than weak.

                            • I played SoU/HotU as pure monk up to level ~25 (end of chapter 2) and there was very little what could touch me anymore, even without Enserric (I kept him in my pack for the entertainment value). The only danger was to get swarmed (the Rakshasa in Undermountain level 2 were good at this), but as described, you can avoid this with a bit strategy. All my saves were sky high, I had ample HPs (even more being a dwarf) and two murderous fists with 2 elemental (fire and ice) 1d6 bonus damages. Banshee & Co. weren't much of a problem, as fortitude and will were good. Only IGMS (no save) would have ripped me to pieces, as Spike said above, but AI casters don't use it. It's a SoU spell and the caster AI is probably plain NWN.

                              • Haven't done SoU/HotU with a monk.....hmm......quite tempted actually.

But NWN2 is not far off.
