      • Well good luck! just prepare yourself for all sorts of hoop jumping and messing with the Oblivion ini to get reasonable performance - then IF everything works ok in the game you will get a pleasant surprise

Ummm......just dont expect too much, especialy if you were a Morrowind fan(or one of the older TES games) - it will blow you away with the visuals.....but well......i just think its a bit 'lite' compared to what we had before

I built a complete new system for Oblivion also(I was due an upgrade anyway), but i just dont play Oblivion on it anymore! I've been playing heavily modded Morrowind(GOTY) on it instead. I currently run just over 100 mods including texture/graphic and sound enhancements plus a shed load of massive quest mods. It pawns Oblivions ass imho. keep that in mind and you might do ok

        • Oblivion's graphics are better than Morrowinds, but not enough to justify the massive hardware requirements needed. There are not a great deal of mods that improve its graphics, either.

            • I've played some Oblivion before, so I know full well what I'm getting into - I really like the gameplay. It's just that my old computer could barely run it, and then with the game looking horrible.

i think the ability to play god by having 100% chameleon ruined the game for me.. huge oversight by designers.. chameleon should be 75% max for everyone.... chameleon is broken anyway - unless you are 100% , you can be seen all the time.. If you are 75% that should mean you are invisible 3 out of every 4 seconds..
bethseda doesn't intentionally cripple things because they can be exploited. they left the chocie of whether you want to exploit up to you.

if you want to make an invisible predator who kills anything easily. . .well you can.

if you think its game breaking. . . DONT DO IT.

                  • If only TES was an MMO. Then balance issues such as this would be fixed quickly and self-control would not be an issue.

                    • Any of you guys ever tried Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul ? I just started playing Oblivion again using this, and it's a whole different ball game. Marauders are TOUGH at low levels. So are the boss mobs. I ran across a bandit ringleader at level 1 who had a dwarven mace, and nearly killed me. I used up about a dozen healing potions winning that fight, and it was a good thing it was 1 on 1. The guy that made this mod changed a lot of things, primarily in the concept of the world leveling with you (it doesn't in this mod; if an area is designated as being level 18, it's going to have level 18 mobs in it even if you're level 1). Toss in the saddlebags mod, and the mods that make you eat and sleep, and it requires a lot more care getting through. I don't even want to try the main quest yet.
