But you sure could. A neighborhood in Sim1 had about 7-8 lots. Everybody who lived in the neighborhood could randomly drop by your house (or you could invite them)... Though you couldn't make your sims visit your neighboors, it was only possible the other way around
This space is empty... or is it?

Every version of the Sims ever released had multiple lots. This doesn't even include downtown which was added in some expansion pack or another.
I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).

Yup, that's what I was saying. Your sims live in a separate universe.

Once I tried to move my sim to see if there's anything out there, and found none.

          A true succesor to Elite
Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind- bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space.

This game may already exist, but I've always wanted to see an rpg set in a kind of film-noir/40's private detective world. If you look at, say, old Bogart films, there's such a rich wealth of rpg-able characters: the loner detective, the uncorruptable cop, the corrupt cop, the femme fatale, the big bruiser, the weasel petty-crook, the criminal mastermind...seems ideal for rpg.

You mean you didn't buy Sims: Mortal Kombat x-pack?
Oddly enough, the new MK game contains a character builder. And every MK character ever.

It's not an RPG, but you might want to check out Discworld Noir, which is a very enjoyable game.

                  Looks like a cool game.

Back in 1993 or 94, I remember playing a game on my Amiga called "Deja Vu." It was a first-person adventure game where you were a detective (iirc; maybe you were just some guy) who waks up with amnesia, and has to solve the mystery of his identity while being chased by both cops and crooks. It was an excellent game -- it anticipated Planescape: Torment in some ways -- and I'd love to see it updated. (I believe the same company made a haunted-house adventure called "The Unseen," which I never did play but always wished I had.)

I liked that game (Deja Vu), but I got frustrated with it, a bit disorientating or too difficult.

Another similar game was called Beneath a Steel Sky, also confusing and difficult.

I'd like to see a strategy game that completely did away with any sort of grid system. Vectors, baby.

I remember that - it was quite cool too.

I remember being driven mad by one key plot point -- the proper disposal of the gun -- and having to check a walkthrough. But it was a cooly immersive game, and the disorientation was part of the fun.

A hex grid is a fair approximation and is a lot easier to implement.

You know, another game I'd like to see -- and, again, maybe this exists already and I just don't know it -- is a version of Sim City that goes back in time as far as Civ does, or at least back before 1900. Running a city without sewers, paved roads, decent firefighting equipment would be a cool challenge.

All of the dungeons were well made (even the optional ones), and even though 90% of the game was side-quests, they were all very interesting.

If a game could bring that Ultima VII experience into this century I think that it'd not only be a great game, but would sell fantastically. It would be the new benchmark for RPGs.

Or, if you want more 2D, try the original Exile series from the same company. Avernum is just a remake to lure in more newbies with more impressive graphics.

Jagged Alliance 2 came in 1999. It has been modded extensively and we've seen a lot of amateur modpacks (mainly from Eastern Europe), but the graphics and the engine are getting pretty damn old by now. The closest thing to a tactical shooter after it has been Fallout Tactics, where you could sustain 50 shotgun shots if you had just levelled up enough

btw, why do you use html-code within forum when we have our very own[i]-tags at Apolyton?
