Running a city without sewers, paved roads, decent firefighting equipment would be a cool challenge.
    You mean Sim Civ?

there are the Sierra city builders - Caesar 1, 2 and 3, Pharoah and Cleopatra, and Zeus. The names give you a good idea of the settings. Somewhat different gameplay than Simcity - less abstract, I guess is the easiest way to say it.

        eBay auction.

Heh. Some games developers are selling 90 days worth of game development time on eBay. Starts at $150,000.

          Interesting. I'll check it out.

Makes you wonder what kind of game development $150 can buy!

If the only way they can get work is to auction themselves off on e-bay I'd aim low...

Another game I'd like to see is one based on WWI trench warfare; kind of a Sim/RTS combo where fighting the war and managing trench life would both play a role.

I don't know about the rest, but Caesar 3 was just meh for me. I guess I just didn't like the funny rules (very Tropico-like in some aspects).

As well as getting said technology and then implementing it into a city designed in the "olden days".
