  • That said, thanks for the hint and the link Qilue, I didn't know that little difference. I'm at the moment occupied with Patricians Online and a couple other games, but when I get the time I'll try a couple non-contest modules.
This series I highly recommend -

    Saleron's Gambit
(that's chapter 1 of 5)(chapter 5 will be released soon)
There's no game in The Sims. It's not a game. It's like watching a tank of goldfishes and feed them occasionally. - Urban Ranger

    • I´m currently playing the Aielund series (chapter 2), I recommend it too, it´s very good and has an interesting story

      • If you haven't downloaded the new "premium"* module Darkness over Daggerford yet, then consider yourself a prize clot! It's the finest module created yet, and has even got wizzy new graphic sets.
You start at level 8, and should reach about 15/16 if you do all the sidequests (maybe higher). The most exciting new feature is that they have somehow managed to include a Baldur's Gate-style world map that you can use to move around the world.

        * It's not a premium mod in that you have to pay for it, although I understand that's how it started its development. Made by professionals, available for free - what could possibly be wrong with that?

        • How is it free?

          • Well you go to the Neverwinter Vault, download it and then open and play it. I don't know why it wasn't released as a paid-for premium module like Pirates of the Sword Coast or Infinite Dungeons, etc, but I'm delighted that it hasn't been.
I particularly like the MRDC (or whatever it's called) in the Barrens.

            • Haven't played any NWN for ages. Might fire it up in the unlikely event I get a few free gaming minutes.

              • I was going to fire it up this weekend but got a CRC error on the install. The CD doesn't even look scratched. Guess it's time to get some images.

                • There´s an interview that explains what happened.

                  8) How did you find out that the program was cancelled and what was your initial reaction to the news?

Alan Miranda: We found out along with the other mod teams (Alazander and DLA) in an email from Rob Bartel from BioWare, right before E3. I think all the teams must have sat stunned for a moment upon seeing that letter because the news came out of the blue. Of course, I hopped on the phone with Rob within a couple of minutes of that email and had a long chat.

I've talked to most of the different parties involved, and everyone seems to have their own take on what happened. I know there's a lot of speculative juicy bits on the topic that you can read about online. Honestly, it's hard to know exactly what kind of high-level communication breakdown occurred to have caused this, and what the true rationale was behind the decision to stop approvals. What I can say though, is that it's a situation Ossian Studios took action on - having something cancelled that you've worked on for over a year can't be taken lying down. But by that point, certain circumstances prevented Darkness over Daggerford from being revived as a premium mod, which was a decision that still stings all our team.

Given that we're approaching almost 15,000 downloads (in only one week!) on the NWVault as I write this, it's difficult to accept any reason for Daggerford's cancellation as a premium module. If you read many of the fantastic comments that our new Ossian fans have been saying, then it's safe to say that we've successfully given them the RPG adventure they've been wanting.

                  • How many game hours does this mod have?

                    Comment

                    • The critical path is approximately 8-10 hours, and the sidequests are an additional 15-20 hours.
