Tartarus is frustrating to play because a riot occurs every month. And since the only police department is in the Elysian Fields, it can be quite tedious.

Boothbay 2045
R: 63,925
C: 37,349
I: 11,555
The population of Boothbay has largely stabilized, with growth only occuring in some of the newly reclaimed industrial and commercial spaces on the Gooseneck. The city has begun to prepare for a larger population, though, as bus and subway transit systems were both upgraded. Despite claims that the monorail is a white elephant, the mayor has been steadfast in its support, and it continues to suck up a great amount of cash while transporting only a few dozen people at many stops.
Rumors of big-headed lab mice being bred in the new industrial park are without merit, according to Dr. Vu, head researcher at Acme Labs, which owns a significant percentage of the newly reclaimed land."In the beginning was the Word. Then came the ******* word processor." -Dan Simmons, Hyperion

Elmwood 45
After more than fifteen years of hiding it on a dusty country road, the Elmwood government finally admitted to the establishment of the Advanced Supernatural Summoning Institute, previously known by wary locals as "The Ranch".
Located just beneath the hill town of Cloyne, The Ranch attracts thousands of aging residents seeking the mythical water pump of youth.
What goes on behind the doors of this mostly subterranean complex is a mystery, one that the recent opening of the Elmwood Zoo nearby has only reinforced.Visit First Cultural Industries

With slum clearance taking place elsewhere in the region, the Fishvale waterfront area, originally slated for luxury condos, has been appropriated by the local council for construction of housing projects.

The population boom has put a lot of strain on the education system, catching funding levels off guard. To cope with the growth in enrollment, the Elmwood Nerd School has opened a Super Senior Dorm as well as a stadium.
Phase II and III of the dorms are yet to be completed, in the meantime, a few fraternities have opened on the hills.

Ohnoes '45, get at lemmy's upload thing, dawg.
Nothing exciting happened, other than the construction of the 120K pop Mayor's Statue. This costs $300 a month to mantain, clearly more than just a statue. It's actually the cockpit of a WINDMILL POWERED ROCKETMOUNTAIN TO THE STARS!
In principle it could also be used to cast an evil eye over degenerates.Last edited by Blake; August 10, 2005, 06:22.

/me wonders if Blake forgot to upload it
i dont see it listed on the upload site.<Kassiopeia> you don't keep the virgins in your lair at a sodomising distance from your beasts or male prisoners. If you devirginised them yourself, though, that's another story. If they devirginised each other, then, I hope you had that webcam running.

Quick update
2045, and all's well ... including a new Movie Studio, a new Major League Stadium, and a shiny new SUBWAY!
Connections made to appropriate neighbours (ie all of you!). It spans my entire map, so it will allow you to transport people through my zone to another
I also made a shiny new solar power array instead of the wind ones. Much more efficient<Reverend> IRC is just multiplayer notepad.

Floreat City 2045
Overview:
Growth continued at breakneck speeds as population increased to over 160,000 citizens (including the region's one millionth person). Most likely many of the new inhabitants are refugees from the little slice of Hades that is Tartarus. New commercial growth simply overcrowed the airport, and the Airport Peninsula had to be expanded to accomodate for a longer runway and larger terminal. Much of the focus over the past few years involved providing adequate services for the growing population and reducing pollution. All dirty industries were manually bulldozed, which unfortunately reduced tax incomes substantially (as they were being taxed at 15%). The coal plant was replaced with a solar plant, and we plan to replace the oil plant with another solar plant soon, leaving the waste-to-energy plant as our only major polluter (which is too essential at this time to remove.
However, transportation infrastructure is being pushed to the limits, as the picture shows; we plan to increase the subway system more to accomodate for the increased traffic.

For the next map, should we go for medium tiles as the base or do people want to all move up to the big tiles?Visit First Cultural Industries

I would suggest medium tiles which are mostly land or large tiles with about as much land as a medium tile (that is, flat land, the non-flat land being water or steep mountain - probably a good idea to go easy on the trees on the mountains too). Large land tiles just take too long to fill in and are quite a bit larger KB-wise.
Okay my city is uploaded now. Dunno why it didn't work yesterday, I started the upload but didn't check that it completed. Today when I try again (on linux, this time, so I had to reenter the password) it had the nerve to tell me the password was wrong - but it tried to upload before telling me this, taking a good 3-4 minutes (since I exceeded my bandwidth cap - bah, it resets tommorow =)). Entered my password again and it accepted it that time *shrug*.

I think that is a good idea Blake, as far as the tile sizes.
I also liked all the water access on the the current map."The DPRK is still in a state of war with the U.S. It's called a black out." - Che explaining why orbital nightime pictures of NK show few lights. Seriously.
