Converted practically all industry to manufacturing and switched over to all gas power, there are still some pockets of high class residential and large areas of lower class to purge, also still need to build a castle.

    • Floreat City/South Floreat 2025

In Floreat City, growth continues at an impressive rate. Development reached the far end of the mainland, with new residential development in the southeast and new industrial/commercial development in the northeast (along the avenue to the airport). The last remnants of Mr. Y's base have been shut down, and the CEO's fleet has been moved to an undisclosed location. The monorail loop has at long last been completed, to much fanfare. The airport has been upgraded again... and if commercial development continues the field will have to be expanded, a process which will require many tons of dirt as fill. A new stadium was built. Densification is occuring at the city core in Crystal City (mostly with R$/R$$).

In South Floreat, there were not many changes, but the monorail link to Yukuhashi-Kanda was built.

Ohnoes enters a Golden Age as Operation "Culturally Assimilate Elmwood and Silicon Beach" begins.

In the opening year a Major Art Musuem, Main Library and the Ohnoes Opera House are constructed. The financial adviser suffers a hearthattack and is fed into the W2E Incinerator as the city runs low on funds for the first time (funny how building an Advanced Research Lab does that..). This slightly delays the completion of the new Subway system, to help alleviate pressure on the monorail stations and reduce commute times to around 30 minutes.

Two recycling plants are also constructed, along with the demolition of the old Coal Plants which are replaced with Oil Plants. The dictator tires of building new water pumps, demolishes them all and builds a new, larger pump that opens at 60% capacity.

Education rises to the point that the newly invented Monosyllabic Translator is required to communicate with victims of the Tartarus 'education system' which appears to involve beating disobedient workers over the head with a spanner until they "stop bad think".

Crime drops to improbably low levels, almost certainly related more to the education level than the omnipresent police helicopters which appear to serve the more important purpose of annoying the dictator with incessant buzzing.

By the end of the 5 years my profit from Transit is down over 2K, oddly the subway dramatically reduced fares because the sims could take more direct routes and thus spent less time travelling via MT. I also demolished all toll booths except one.

The latest 5 year plan brought major changes to Boothbay. The first came shortly after the plan's inception, when growing pressure from the city's merchants prompted the council to build a small commuter airstrip. As land was already at a premium, the Peninsula Envy Extension was built to house the new facility:

Though the council considered the idea of linking the Island of Misfit Toys to the mainland at the time of the extension, it was decided that the link would be too disruptive to the island's industry. However, a smaller terraforming effort was allowed to permit the construction of a new waste treatment facility on the island:

The city's second leap forward occured when a new intracity monorail system was built. The only form of public transportation in the city, the monorail quickly cut commute times in half when it was completed, although they have crept up again since:

The final step in the five year plan came when the city was approached by a whalewatching company to host their port facilities. Lacking a suitable location for a deepwater port, the city once again turned to the magic of garbage and used tires to produce the Gooseneck Technology Park. Filled with high tech commerce and industry, the park will soon be home to Boothbay University:

The news for the city was not all good, though, as llamas confused by fumes from the nearby wastewater plant gnawed away at the historic Sludgeview, causing it's collapse. The city's growing population has resulted in a number of other high-rises, though, so nobody really cared (other than the llamas it fell on.)

And, in the nearby Pipeline Isles, Boothbay's peninsula extension brought about an opportunity for a high-end commercial center to compliment the area's technology research center:

Not a lot of people here, it was meant to be a commercial center surrounded by residential high-rises but it didnt turn out that way. Not entirely happy with it, but its not too bad.

Alright guys, here it is finally. I stopped at 2015 just to give you guys a filler. I will go up to 2025 soon.

But in the meantime I have a gfew questions for you obviously more experianced types.

First, it seems that nobody wants to live in my city, just work. For all 15 years my Industry and Commerce indicaters have been maxed out, while my residential has been maxed low. I figured it was just a hazard of joining a game so late with everyone elses cities in the region being so developed. Sound normal?

And Second, how the hell do I get a monorail to cross a highway?

                  • Since i'm trying to keep my city air pollution free, and don't want big landfills in my city, i'd like to export garbage to Ohnoes or Sillicon Beach, if either of you are interested in taking it, i think you need more capacity, since i don't have the option to export yet.

                      • Cool,

I just realized I forgot to connect the monorail to you, but I will run it to the line you sent over to me, it is very close.

                        • Crossing monorails over highways... hmm, maybe you have to tunnel under it using the hole digging lots, or lower that section of highway to ground level..

                          • I haven't quite figured out the hole diggers yet. I would lower the highway but it is one tile before a bridge. I guess I will just bulldoze some **** and make it fit.
