    * Sparrowhawk btw, Kassiopeia, I am enjoying the storyline which was lacking in the last two games and don't mean to compare you to any of the above AWOL gm's, just giving you a hard time

P.S. After all, if you are slow updating, Rah may yet survive trough another weekend
    I'm hurt.

    • I'm confused. Isn't it more usual to get a DL if you want a dialogue with yourself at 'poly?

Can a Finn with time on their hands and a Lawful Good alignment please go round to Kass' house and steal his copy of Total War, only returning it when he has written a new chapter. We'll be really grateful.

Another Jonny-come-lately to the pun game.

I assure you that Kassi isn't Ducking his responsibilities to the game, more likely he's had a recent Spike in activity IRL keeping him busy. It can be a Herculean effort, GMing a forum game, as I can attest to, having done one myself.

But so far he hasn't Flaked out on us, so cut him some slack, eh?

            • I had no choice but to churn out a chapter, the punning is getting more atrocious by the hour.

              Chapter V

The vote was exceptionally close this time. The two most likely executees, Hercules and Jonny, both had an intensive campaign going on, the likes of which could only be witnessed again over 700 years later. Hercules managed to time his plea to the voters slightly better, and he bested Jonny by a margin of a single vote, cast probably by the Duke of Carinthia who withheld from casting the ballot until they very last moment, after Hercules had praised the Duke and his holdings from here to eternity.

And so was Jonny summarily executed. No one was left to Keep the Fireplace.

              ***

In the morning, nobody was surprised by a new killing. What surprised them, however, was that the new victim's, Duke gjramsey of Carinthia's, neck had been snapped like the morn before. Before this, the stabbings and snappings had been alternating.

"Clearly, either of the two people killed after the last stabbing must have been the other murderer", stated Count Jamski the obvious.

DarkCloud stroke his beard. "So it was either Duke o' york, the noble, or Jonny, the food taster."

Something suddenly dawned to Reismark. "The two stripes! The two stripes! Hercules!"

              "Sir?" the man responded.

"Jonny had two stripes of soot in his shirt when he brought them to you for laundry, right?"

"Uhhh, I believe so", Herculs said, digging his noggin.

"I know where the murder weapon is!" Reismark said and marched triumphantly to the fireplace. He poked the ashes for a moment, and lo, a small dagger was uncovered.

              "What the thunder?" rah exclaimed.

"Jonny didn't want soot to end up on his victims, I guess, that would have given him away, once I had made him Keeper of the Fireplace. Also, he was with me in the room when it was suggested that the murder weapon should be sought out. He must have seen the opportunity and hidden the weapon here. So to keep the soot away from the victims, he wiped the dagger - give me a towel, will you? Like this." Reismark took the towel, put his hand inside it and drew it along the sides of the blade.

Reismark took the towel and unravelled it: two black stripes of soot.

"Intriguing", Princess Snowflake said, "a most interesting theory."

"Not theory, the truth!" Reismark said.

                • Intriguing, a most interesting theory.

And a theory I approve. And it is the exact reason why I voted for him. Am I a smart princess or not.

                              • Interesting. It is good that we have identified one of the twain killers.

My proposition now, however, is that this disease is also requisite of Hercules's deeds and place my vote for him.

The entire dining establishment in this household is diseased with murder!
