      • Well, at least I know Skanky Burns as Michaelangelo did not kill me off.

But what about the second mafia?

        Who would he be?

Obviously I was getting too close to the truth.

Please, save your lives and find the Mafia.

And typical, that my aid and assistance to outsider Martin Luther results in my death.

        • Son of a ***** he made me a cardinal right before killing Ben and then blaming it on a cardinal. Things aren't looking good for me.

I for one suspect some Machiavellian plot is at hand here.

          • If you are voting it's better to use bold the posters name as opposed to his characters.

If you are dead, it's better not to bold any names....

                • Whoha. We can't let this heretic Martin Luther be a cardinal, or perhaps even become Pope someday...

                  • The clues clearly point to a cardinal. Whoha's lame attempt to deflect suspicion won't fool anybody.

                    • Who(ha) knows why Tuberski keeps voting for me?

Is it a hangover from a previous mafia game? I don't recall starting a docpile on him.
Still, I like the looks of this one. I always felt that Luther would be a threat to the Church, and he has proved it by murdering two popes.

                      • Joachim von Ribbentropp, foreign minister of the Reich, had an underling who represented him in the Wannsee conference where the Final Solution was agreed upon. The underling was called Martin Luther. Coincidence? I think not! Whoha

Besideswhich, was Luther even ever a cardinal of the RCC? Granted, being brought up Lutherian, it might be an aspect that's only been skimmed in my education. I do realise he was in the RCC before the reformation began, of course, but a cardinal? IIRC he visited the Vatican only once!

Had I been Pope at the time, I would have made Luther cardinal. Then you wouldn't have been brought up Lutheran, but good Catholic

                              • Chapter 5 - Death to the heretic!

Tired of the political struggles between the Borgias and the Medicis, the cardinals elected Francesco Todeschini Piccolomini as new Pope. He chose the name Pius III.

Shortly afterwards, Niccolò Machiavelli met with the Pope.

“Your Holiness, the investigation I have conducted so far indicates we’re dealing with two murderers. Two multiple murderers. Furthermore, the evidence gathered at the last crime scene strongly incriminates one of the cardinals.”
“Mr. Machiavelli, you know I would like nothing more than to catch the killer who has murdered so many of our friends over the last week. Not a day has passed that I haven’t prayed to the Lord to stop the killings. And you are telling me now there are two killers in fact. I do not contest that. But to accuse the cardinals without sufficient proof. I think it would be impossible.”
“I don’t want to accuse all cardinals, Your Holiness. Please, take a look at this.”

Machiavelli handed over the piece of cardinal’s robe to the Pope.

                                “What is this?”
“It’s a piece of cardinal’s robe, Your Holiness. We found this piece of cloth in the right hand of Pope Julius II. He must have torn it off during the struggle with his attacker.”
                                “So, what’s your plan?”
“You can invite me to attend the next session of the conclave and I’ll watch closely to see if the robe of one of the cardinals has a piece missing or if some of the cardinals aren’t wearing their robes. If I don’t spot the culprit then, I can, with your permission, later search the quarters of those cardinals who hadn’t been wearing their robes.”
“All right, we’ll do that way. The killer must be found.”

                                ****

The conclave convened to decide on the matter of the death of Pope Julius II. Machiavelli was present and watching closely as agreed. He spotted that Cardinal Martin Luther’s robe has a piece missing. He spoke out.

“It’s Cardinal Martin Luther! He is the killer of the popes!”
“What are you talking about?” Martin Luther was puzzled.

Machiavelli approached the cardinal and compared the piece he had with the hole in cardinal’s robe. It matched.

                                Cardinal Thomas Wolsey spoke.
“I have always detested heretics. I thought it was Julius’ mistake that he has appointed you cardinal. Now is time to correct this mistake.”
“But I am innocent”, protested Luther.
“Die heathen swine”, Alessandro Farnese exclaimed “and with your death show to the world how the Roman Catholic Church deals with heretics and murderers.”
“I have been framed!” cried Luther.
“Prepare the stake”, Giovanni de Medici was eager.

And Whoha was burnt at stake a few hours later.

Rome breathed a sigh of relief, but it would prove to be a short lived one. For the next morning the guards found reismark dead in his villa on the outskirts of Rome. He was lying face down in the great hall of the Borgia mansion, next to the Roman sarcophagus engraved with images of the centaurs, ancient Roman gods and other mythical figures.

This time the murderer obviously didn’t know the victim as he was struck from behind, stabbed in the back.
