I wanted to put this on the Civ-General forum, but thought it might be inappropriate.
I've been playing Civ III since it came out, enjoyed the PtW expansion (other than the price), and think C3C is the epitome of what Civ could be (other than my, ahem own mods).
I eagerly await CivIV (sort of--I also fear it may be a 'dumbed down' version of Civ designed for a bigger audience).
In the mean time I've been playing a lot of other games and I'm curious as to what fellow Civers and fellow Polytubbies are playing. I'm always looking for a new game, desperately trying to recapture that initial Civ experience.
Myself, I've been heavily into Medieval: Total War. I wasn't impressed when I first bought it, but after it had gathered a little dust I dragged it back out and now I'm having a blast with it. The campaign game confused me, but now I've figured that out and I'm having a lot of fun with it. Eagerly await Rome: Total War with the anticipation I felt for C3C.
Command and Conquer: Generals was pretty cool but I've cooled on it. The only real challenge now is playing as the GLA, but I can't overcome a distateful feeling being them. The USA is the best to play, but China has some amazing units. I have issues with the interface, though, that frustrate me.
Rise of Nations, as most RTS games, grew tiresome to me. But with the T&P expansion my interest is renewed.
The Sims, and all its countless expansions, leaves me with one thought: "What would you need for a military alliance against the Sims?"
All the hype about Doom III almost got me interested, but I don't really care for first person shooters. Is this the game that will change my mind? Let me know.
I like some old games: Sid Meier's Civil War Collection, 1503, Caesar III, Pharoah . . .
What are you playing these days? What do you recommend?
