Also Jam you might need to make some more Kukris for me to buy. The bog standard kukri in my off hand is just too weak. I wasn't able to locate the CREEP headquarters you said to check out.

I have a general merchant problem as well, in that I haven't changed my equipment for ages. Are there more merchants I've missed?

Places I haven't been include North of Gnoma, the 4 planes, the lizard mound, and wherever the elf sailor takes you. I need some good hunting for level 14.

I suggest you hop on that boat and see what you can find, hit the scorpions or lizards, take to the ants, visit the Gnoma crypt, head through the Gnoma docks to get to Crank's Island, or step through the Black Oak to meet strange Fey creatures...

Tonight I did gobwood (boring, though I got to the next stage in the codex quest). Then I went to Southrun, which was much better. Straight away I added +4 to AC and *wait for it* bought two +3 kukris. This makes a huge difference from +0/+2.

Why was I not informed of this place before?

CREEP HQ is behind a door in the Gnoma Ruins - well worth a visit just for the loot

I did last night but those shaman are tough. One summoned a dire bear then hit me with what I think was prismatic spray. I was fortunate enough to roll the instant death option.

Ah, they start off invisible - I suggest you use True Sight and Invis to whack them first

Hmm, I left that bit because the whole confusion/blindness/general annoyances drove me away. I presume there are counters, but the guy I bought the canteen from didn't seem to have anything else to help. I was chugging clarity potions, but they don't last long, and don't help with blindness.

Also (and no skimsying this part) is there a ring or something I can use to give true sight?

There are a number of items that give true sight, that are most easily found by highish level characters from the "boss chests" Also the Monks sell a large flag that gives True Sight (and +3 STR? Immunity to fear? Or some other bonus? Hell, I made it and I can't remember)

A magnetic helm, or generally good saves will help a LOT in the desert. Monks, Clerics and Paladins tend to thrive. Rogues lack the Will and Fort saves rather badly

My next question is just how tough (level-wise) are the following bosses:

The minotaur (terribull?)
The ant queen
Zappolwie
Hellwitch
Tim's tower? The guardian at the start is impossible.

I keep heading back to the minotaur every couple of levels, and he's still impossible. He killed me in 1 hit a couple of levels ago, so I imagine he's quite tough.

Also I keep heading back to lizard mound only to be told to go away. I think their should be a little more guidance from NPCs as to rough levels needed for areas.

Other areas that seem blocked are North of Gnoma and East and South of the Thirst (2).

Still haven't tried any of the planes.

Any ideas on rough levels required? It's annoying to keep trying an area (and slog your way to it) only to find you aren't appropiately trained yet.

Doc, you just need to be better at the game.



I have finished the Docks district on the OC (yeah, well I haven't got broadband, and I lent Doc my codes because he has), and am now going back to the Blacklake district, which is the only one I haven't done yet. I may well have to go back to some of the other areas later to finish off some subquests, but for the time being I'm strong enough to whack pretty much everyone on this Chapter. I've got three of the relics for the bloke in the Halls of Justice, and three of the cure components of course. I've only got one of theartworks to be restored to their rightful owner (someone here called it art theft, and my paladin won't stand for that!) I killed the boss on the Docks level by myself because Daelan didn't last long. I also summoned my familiar to help me in the fight, and he poisoned the boss which helped a great deal.

The OC is quite long - at this rate you'll finish it some time in early 2006.

Well - I want my games to last a long time.

All I need is for the good duchess to go and visit her parents or friends or someone (I don't care who) for another weekend, and then I'll make loads of progress.

Or lower if you take a friend - some places are STRONGLY not reccommeded to be soloed except at uberhigh levels - and then you'll get bog all xp.

Lizard mound is level 20+, but again, take a friend with complimentary skills - a mage or a rogue benefits hugely from the company of a warrior
