That "boss in the cave" is one of Folderol's greatest challenges. A real favorite of mine, but he has a HUGE respawn time, (1 hour? 2?) and seems to be possessed more often by DMs than any other creature.

I've faced it with Reidmar twice, beaten it once. (Of course, I've been up and down the mountain more times than twice. )

My character is Rerien with some long impronounceable elfish name (because elves should have such names). Currently Rogue 4, Fighter 1. Generally going to stick with the rogue class, but take a few more fighter levels to make better use of longbows. Probably take a level of Shadowdancer for hige in plain sight. Right now my melee weapon is a magic warhammer, which seems kind of strange for an elf to have, but magic weapons on earlier levels are difficult to come by. I also got a troll ring, which is great since I generally dislike resting with primarily nonmagic characters. This is why I don't play rangers very much, because I'll never use the spells.

I was just taking a peek at Dalakora, which has a UK server that is populated, and seems very interesting. It has a harsh death system though, where you lose 1000xp per level and all your items. You can retrieve them if you get to your body first, but it seems mean.

Anyway, because it is so harsh people talk about resurrecting their own character with another. Is this possible on Folderol? I ask because I have one that's coming of age that could resurrect, because when my level 15 player dies it's gut wrenchingly annoying to lose 750 xp. There usually aren't enough players to get a resurrected by another.

I finished off the fourth quest in the City yesterday while I was off work, and have now saved outside the Helm's Hold or whatever it's called. I'm making progress, and may well have it done before Doc's estimate.
I'm still about 250 xp off my first level of RDD, and miles off getting some funky wings, but there's nothing to be done but to work at it.

No-one was interested in my 'poly hero idea then?

I've decided to talk my dad into getting broadband, and paying for it myself, becuase I HAVE to get back into Folderol soon - I have LOADS to catch up on. We're getting back to the near-daily rate of updates that we had in June and July

Basically it's just a character build to level 40, but with everyone each taking just a couple of levels each (say to each new feat, or maybe to each new ability +1) so that we can all augment/spoil whatever the person before was thinking of, or to add feats that we'd regard as vital, but others might not. I think it'd be fun, but I'm not prepared to go first.

I finished Chapter One of the OC yesterday, proving myself to be a Sunday gamer extraordinaire. The final battle was a massive pain in the arse, and I had to use loads of potions just to survive. Daelan died pretty much straightaway, after he automatically ran to attack the boss and ignored all of the other things that I wanted him to kill first. Moron.
Still, I managed to knock off all the other creatures, and then it just descended into a five minute long hackfest, in which we traded blows non-stop and I drank some potions when I thought my HP was getting too low. Eventually I took enough from the boss to make him surrender, but it was a painful drawn-out thing. Still, I'm off to explore Chapter Two, probably next Sunday.

If we do the 'Poly Hero thing, I'd have it so that every "turn" was either 4 pre-epic levels or 2 epic levels. We'd also need to have a general focus for the character-- melee, spellcasting, etc.

Also, are we actually going to be playing out this character to build it up? It'd be a hell of a feat if we could get an uberchar that's viable at ALL levels, not just at level 40 or close to it.

Duke, if you mean the Desther battle, it's a royal pain.

As for the 'Poly character idea, I don't think Duke realises how long an epic level takes in MP. If you meant this for SP the highest you'd get the character to is 27.
