I'm afraid that I do not know who the killer is, but Lady Anita Blake is the best suspect at this point.

No one could push the big brute into the acid pile, but someone could make him think that it wasn't there.

Or make LL think that he was chopping firewood, when he was cutting a throat.

Or distract a man while she strangled him from behind.
We're sorry, the voices in my head are not available at this time. Please try back again soon.

On a side note, shouldn't Pereluigi have an update to his avatar by now?

I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

The murder method(s) still seem to point to a magical source: cut without bleeding, move without being seen, strength enough to overpower our strongest member.

                    My vote has been sent.

You mean "The Hobbit?" That's because "Halflings" call themselves Hobbits

Somebody could have taken an item from Gheneral Ludd and toss it in an acid pool. When the bard tried to pick up the item, that person pushed or struck him from behind.
