  • okay Jamski.

Those Dwarf warders in the 2nd level below the entrance to durlag's tower.

How do you solve those riddles?

you can use spoiler tags if you want.

They don't give me an option to try an solve the riddles.

      • I finally figured that part out. It just required getting the items.

But now I'm stuck on that cultist battle with the demon or whatever in Ulgoth's beard after finishing Durlog's tower. this battle is simply impossible.

Freakin' impossible. I can't figure out what is happening. Just when I'm about to finally win that battle Montaron dies and there is a red circled ghoul in his place. It could have been one of mine as I used several monster summonings and a create undead. I specifically placed Montaron in the corner so he wouldn't be killed.

But It's been like 6 times in a row he has been killed and his portrait completely removed

I've never had trouble with battles like this in Baldur's Gate 2. There must be something I'm missing.

Yes I said the chess board battle was impossible. But I got that after 3 tries. It has now been 7 tries and I cannot win this battle.

        • As soon as the demon casts that ghoulify spell, you have to then cast dispel magic on that character.

With that battle, you have to eliminate the cultists before the demon. If the demon dies, he will inhabit the body of a cultist. Which means you have to keep the demon otherwise occupied while you kill off the cultists. I used two wands of summoning and kept as many summons as possible around the demon.

          • just tried again as you said. I was down to 1 cultist to kill. And again Montaron dies for no reason that I can tell. I don't know what's killing him.

            • I kept going and he now got Edwin.

It appears he's turning my characters into ghasts.

Is there any way to turn them back?

              • I fianally got it.

Actually I won the battle a couple of times, but I couldn't do it without losing a character being turned into a ghast.

I finally won it without having a character turned into a ghast. arty:

                • I don't like to see the Baldur's Gate thread on page 2.

The original Baldur's Gate battles are very easy.

But I must say, I found a few battles in the expansion very challenging. More challenging than Baldur's Gate 2 battles. That may be because my mages don't have as many powerful spells to choose from.

Even that chessboard battle I found tough. It was tough protecting my mages. I also had trouble protecting my mages on those battles on the shipwrecked ship.

And why do werewolves only give 420 XP? They are tough for only 420 XP.

                  • Durlag's Tower is designed to be a challenge. And its not like you need the EXP is it?

                    • werewolves suck... Greater werewolves on the other hand , especially in BGI are a maajor pain in the ass, they regenerate faster than you're able to hurt them

                      • Dissident, don't worry, it took me about 20+ restarts to beat the demon... but I did it eventaully. It just takes a lot of spellcasting

(I did it with the party given by the expansion pack for Sword Coast )

UnBaldurdashed Greater Wolfweres in BGII suffer from a bug which leads to them sometimes having absurdly speedy regeneration...

Of course, no matter how fast they regenerate you can still kill them with Lower Resistance / Greater Malison / Finger of Death, should you have a sufficiently high level mage handy. I can't quite imagine what it would be like playing BGI and not having even a hope of ever getting such spells...

                          • How can I defeat Daevorn?
I've tried a few times to beat him, but he toasts me.
                            Spoiler:
Also, Coran isn't good enough to disarm the fourth trap in the row, so I just had to trigger it and he got a spinny wheel in the face. Oops. Went back to the bedroom to be healed though, and this is where I'm saved. I can go down and scout to find out where Daevorn is, but as soon as he spots me then splat! I wish I could just rush him with summoned creatures, but I used my wand up. Help please!

for the trap, would a potion of master thievery help? (Just to save you a rest, and perhaps gain a few precious new XP) In fact, I'm not sure that they help with find traps rating...

                              • But I already opened the trap! It hardly did any damage, and a Cure Light Wounds was sufficient!

And where am I going to get a potion like that from this early in the game?
