Yet another bleeding BG thread *sigh*

w00t! Stop me from going home now and cranking up the speed! (I meant as in, of Baldur's Gate, not as in taking a heroic dose of a recreational drug )

When I go into a town/Friendly Arms, then I get annoyed by the fact that I can click on the next location and then wait for them to walk there. Fortunately I know they won't be attacked, so I can go and harass my girlfriend or something, whereas in the wild I have to keep an eye on the useless buggers.

Its a VERY overpowered ring, you don't want it. It doubles spells. NASTY evil spells.

Why don't you run BGconfig and turn the game speed up from 30 to 45 or even 60, if time is an issue? I always play BG1 on 60 (i.e. double speed) and the other IE games on 45. Otherwise you spend a lot of time watching your guys walking slowly

you can actually speed up how fast they walk! I never knew that, although I still don't think I'll do it. It just wouldn't feel right.

although it would be useful in beregost. As I sell all my stuff there. The one inn on the left side will buy jewelry and spells! no need to go to high hedge to sell them. And the smithy will buy the rest. But it takes a while to walk between the two.

and I sell everything, and I pick up everything. I'm so amazingly rich, I have nothing to do with all this money . I still pick up normal items like crossbows and plate mails. they sell for a decent amount. I leave weapons like short swords of course. but in the beginning, I even picked those up

It speeds up everything. The characters and enemies attack twice as often, spells take half as long to cast etc...

the good news is I finally reached the city of Baldur's Gate. The same point I had my other party at. I think I'm bored of that party, I may never finish that game . It's hard to pick up on a game after haven't played it in over 6 months.

But anyway, I have some quest in some thieves guild or something. I'm to meet this guy by the splurgeon surgeon (I think that's the name) inn. I meet the guy, and the guy says to keep an eye out, and the game moves me to a certain point, but nothing happens.

Is something supposed to happen? Are the guards supposed to come? What do I do?

Or is it a pub for icthyologists? The Sturgeon Surgeon?

The guards are supposed to come, then you can either dob your friend up or warn them.

If you're not patched, this can be buggy.

hey it worked this time.

It said I wasn't supposed to attack the guard, so I fled. But when I return, the hostile guard is still there. What am I supposed to do with him?

just for fun, I killed the guard. And I killed all the civilians in the area to lower my reputation to 1. And then the enforcers came. I hadn't even finished off killing 1 group, when another group appeare in the same place. And then another group came ontop of the 2nd group. Needless to say, I died.

You're supposed to run and find the thief you're standing guard for, and talk to them.

he eventually disappeared after I returned to the guild.

I finished this other quest involving me being poisioned. I had to kill this guy to get the other half of the antidote. this quest was a real pain . I was running all over the city- and getting more quests in the process. well I have the antidote, but when I drink it, nothing happens.

and why do they put a wall in the middle of the city what a pain.

Its always tempting to skip all the quests in the city itself and simply rush to the Flaming Fist place, have a quick chat, say no to whatever Scar offers, talk to Eltan, say "let's go now" and POW! next chapter. You can do the whole of chapter 5 in less than 5 minutes

what's the XP cap again?

I like trying to get up to a higher level.

A cleric gets raise dead at level 9 right? Yes I know you never let your guys die. I usually don't either. But I try to avoid reloading if I can.

Viconia is now level 7. Although it takes such massive amounts of experience to get up any higher. But I still have to do Durlag's tower.

Baldur's Gate is a pretty cool city though. I'll try to do all the quests if I can. And why would I turn down Scar?

Then you can skip his quests. He says can you do "x", you say "Too busy mate" then he says how about "x" and you say "sorry, no time", and then it moves on the the end of the chapter encounter...

I'm often pretty near the EXP cap by the time I reach BG anyway, and with chapters 6 and 7 to go, I'm not short of chances to get more

However, I'm not sure what the EXP cap is in BG1, as I always play with it removed. WIthout using TuTu or TotSC though, there's no point in levelling past about the 7th or 8th level (depending on class)

I think most of my guys are level 7 now. Except for my multiclass. But he's like 6 fighter and 7 thief.
