Succession Game IX - Don't throw those bloody spears at me!
660AD Phoenicians take Tlokwa, it was coming since we couldn't see any of our borders. What happened to the border look outs? At least we're back down to 20 cities now so the happiness is better.
680AD Phoenicians take Regina but we'll take it back this turn.
Researched Gunpowder, now we can build Harquebusier's.
I started pillaging all roads connecting our cities to theirs, since we're on the back foot now.
Recaptured Regina with Knights and M.Archers and lost 8 units - they had a couple of Bombard's inside.
If we can take back 1 city, our old city Taung, it's a big city so it's always good to have. There's 12 units outside ready to bombard it to bits.
For EPW, watch out for the Egyptian's around Ngwak/Oryx and the Pheonician's in the east.
Next time, please, would it be possible to choose a mod where you don't have anything to produce but military units...
Actually this is one of the most peaceful mods there is, even more peaceful than SAP2. If you want a totally peaceful game with any mod you need to play on a lower difficulty level. But it's not the mod that's making us produce only military units IMO, it's the way we're playing. We're defending every city heavily, we have no mobile defence (which requires less military units) and we can't see any of our borders, so we're defending on our doorstep all the time. But if we guard our borders and build up several mobile defence stacks we can defend quickly anything we see and just concentrate on building and science, if that's the way you want to play your turn.

I am a bit surprised maq, I have the feeling to be continually under siege with this mod. I am usually playing with the SAP2 (difficulty level set at Very Hard) and as far as I remember I am not always at war with another civ.
"Democracy is the worst form of government there is, except for all the others that have been tried." Sir Winston Churchill
All the settings we chose contributed heavily to it too, like mostly land, smallish map compared to the number of AI we chose. We did it on purpose to make sure we had action from the beginning.
Don't blame the mod though, I mean we've made peace treaties with most of the civs which is pretty good. We've had a mix of everything, but because we're surrounded we've had constant war from one side or another. I'm sure once we beat these 2 we're at war with into submission we'll be into a long period of peace to finish the game.
I don't normally play games this intense either as I like to at least get some time to build my civ and see what ways work best before I get into a war.

well, it seems that somehow all the border patrol either got killed off by advancing enemies or by impressment into our advancing armies...
but i found the lack of intel to be annoying and dangerous in this game
EDIT: i believe that removing the phonecian threat is the priority cuz the fight us on two fronts and control the rest of the north edge, thus after the defeat of them, wh really only have at most one, long front

One thing to note, military support costs are rather high under democracy, and its really slowing down production. We should definitly get a more military oriented government until we subdue our neighbors.
800AD- HuangShang VI steps up to fill the presidency in the Zulu Democratic Republic
810AD- musketeer spoted in Phonecian territory, the generals wonder when they will be sent muskets
830AD- an Phonecian canon follows 2 4stacks to Zareptha
840- destroys that canon, but our cav archer that charged it out of the woods have caught attention from nearby gunner
850- HuangShang VI replaced by YingZhong in a failed reelection, YingZhong starts road project to connect Calgary and Toronto
860- the reign of YingZhong marks the entry to the Industrial Age after the development of the theories of physics
YingZhong proudly walks into Tlokwa w/ an all cav force
865- the stack beseiging elephantine is somehow destroyed by an all cav stack...
885- northEastern front rocked by a Phonecian attack on Xhosa, Xhosa garrison down to six
890- the next election is still up in the air as YingZhong has decided against reelection
Comments: 1.i've found cavs to be annoying when stacked in an umbalanced group, ie. they dont stand in front of bombards, and somtimes hide behind light ranged
2.i have finally managed to keep the heartland clean of enemy troops
3.all the work spent on elephantine has come to nothing but alot of dead soldier and citizens on their side, and the loss of a whole army on our side
NOTES: 1.just end the turn, i did that to let Shadow see the time b/w turns to get him aquinted w/ current events
2.i just found out that i do not know how to take screens... but there is that one spot i really want to settle as a new city now that modern demo supports 50
3.a previous attack sometime lead me to believe that only a musket militia occupies... what is that city, start w/ a H and is on what i call the southern front
this means that it can be treated as a very strong defense unit as the only garrison
4. used to be a 6stack lurking around east of Zareptha, its either in the fog or is split into what seems to include that 3stack north of our biggest city
5. i didnot reinforce Xhosa like i meant to... and watch out at Oryx... i've kept up bombardment of the invaders but was out numbered
6. speaking of Oryx, the build que is backed up (or is going to be once the turn ends) so take out either a hoplite or the archer first
7. a couple cities during my the reigns of HuangShangVI and YingZhong had been lost and recaptured, would have made the story much longer though
8. a lot of enemy units wandering into the Zulu Democratic Republic were eliminated in these two reign, so the interior is very safe right now
9. my end notes and comments are officially longer than the turn by turn explinations

Try just pressing the Print Screen key, and then pasting into your favorite graphics application.
If that doesn't work, then graphics applications often have screen capture functions (Paint Shop Pro certainly does).
uh... does silence mean its a bad idea or it has been ignored?
this place is VERY helpful b/c
1. there are no civs around to attack, unless the Phonecians walk in big circles
2. it is our entrance into the only ocean (or what i think is the biggest body of water), it will launch an all new theater for our civ
3. those two goods are awfully close
4. some of the Canadian cities are breaking their belts and really slowed down growthwise, they can build a large number of settlers to disband in the all-new city
