  • Crimson-Friggin exciting a** post!

You just got to clarify for me on how much ships the Drones have. The Hive VII fleet has about 47 ships (3 ships kamikaze attacked the planet).

Since you've described the system as being close to the fringe, it'll be good if the Drones jump the Hive fleet in mid-bombardment. That way, the Drones will get the jump on Hive ships and cause more damage. What do you think?

Something that just crossed my mind: What if the Drones see the Hive fleet bombarding the ships, wipe out 99% of the Hive fleet, and use the system as a Drone staging area within Hive space? But to keep with your plotline that the Franco is going down, we could have causualties in the "unacceptable range" for the Drones...just some idea's to play with....

I just need to know about how much ships the Drone fleet has so I can start thinking of how things are going to be.

    Other than that.......friggin kick-a** post.

    • And another post, this one detailing some of that big ship's capabilities (no prizes for guessing what I intend to call it..).

      • What an active day!

Franky the Drones started off with forty ships. By my count, about five or six have already been destroyed or incapacitated. So the Hive VII fleet has a pretty good edge in numbers.

As for using the system as a forward base, that would be okay for me. Originally I was thinking the two fleets would deal major damage to each other, then Franco would pull back to the Drone Republic. There would be a military inquest into the unacceptable losses, which would spill over into a congressional issue and an election issue which would topple Adams' regime.

I'm just thinking about what you suggested. If we want to do that, then we could have the current engagement set off an attrition type fight over the system, where the Drones manage to hold some sort of base (maybe on the planet or a satellite) but otherwise without a clear victory. Then both sides can regroup and move into a drawn-out lower-intensity conflict.

        What do you think?

        • That sounds good.

We can still have the two fleets slug it out with each other and have Franco move back to the Drone Republic. That way, you can follow your plotline and the Drones have a toehold into Hive territory. The Drones gain a toehold into Hive territory but at a price that may seem as too high....maybe attribute it to incompetent leadership? (Dunno).

I like your idea of having the system becoming a focal point for Hive-Drone attrition. This way, the system becomes a flashpoint and effectively becomes a "bulge" in Hive territory where the whole region is contested Hive-Drone territory.

          I like it.

(this is the kind of stuff that makes me get excited )

          • Cool.

Maybe both the Drones and the Hive should put some sort of small base in the system? Make it an even hotter flashpoint!

            • On an unrelated subject... I don't recall exactly what population level I had worked out for the Cadre, but I do recall it was something ridiculously low by comparison with everyone else (somewhere around 30 million, IIRC), so would it be ok if I revised it up a lot?

                • Finally, stuff is getting interesting between the Drones and the Hive.

Prez, any word on the Temple plot?

Franky, I don't want to burden you with more stuff, considering you're engaged in the skirmish plot. But I was wondering where or how we could proceed with our planned story arc?

Lonestar, nice post. Its ironic though, Pym speaking at an University, addressing the University Alliance from there. Nice twist.

Expect a reply to the Protectorate treaty signing in my next post, probably this weekend or next week.

Tomorrow's my birthday. Geez, I'm already feeling old.
