ACDG5: Demogame, anyone (especially newbies)?

interested in joining

I am a veteran AC player though I never read all the threads here and I certianly am now where near as good as the great Googlie or Hydro. I however have never played in a democracy game before. I would be interested in joining this in what ever capacity you think is best (I would love to be a base governor if you need one). How should I post in character in the story thread, and what is the best way to get involved?

Thanks and thanks especially for organizing this (maybe if we show how much interest there still is in AC we will get an updated version...please firaxis, please!)

Oh I should say I do have some practice posting in character I'm a diplo game player for civ IV and I posted in the spartan chronicles as a sub commander a looong time ago.

Crud I entered significantly differently than that based on the idea that vetran AC players had the rank of commander (which I think had been posted elsewhere) I can delete my entry if it is not acceptable. I thought it left some interesting story potentials open though. Who knows maybe some of the council though Lal should have been executed.

Go to The Wardroom. Read the first post. Then go to the end and introduce yourself as Lt. dacole. Feel free to create a Unity department.

We are voting on where to place HQ in The Voting Booth.

It is only fair that if you prevail on HQ being run by the faction, you give dacole his choice of the remaining two bases.

I would prefer strategy to be discussed in the Wardroom. This is the organizational thread.

If there is enough interest, we can create another thread.

I personally like the challenge of discussing strategy while staying in character, so I'll keep to the Wardroom.

Discussion of the rules

Rules

• Copters cannot attack bases.
• No stockpile energy after unit in build queue.
• Must build or own Voice of Planet for win by Transcedence.
• Players are not permitted to make more than one social engineering change per line, per turn. For instance, one is not permitted to start the turn in wealth, switch to power mid-turn for the extra disbanded minerals, and then switch back to wealth that same turn, getting the refund. Switching only to see results of the change without any played actions is permitted.
• Players may not perform multiple airdrops in a single turn with the same unit using the right-click menu. Players may not make air drops using the right click "air drop to" function, when it is not possible to do so with the "i" button, ie. after already having moved or made a drop.
• Players may not use the F4 screen when infiltrated to change an opponent's workers to specialists.
• Upgrades anytime allowed, similar rule as in ACDG3.
• Discovering bases in unexplored terrain by clicking darkened tiles is prohibited.
• Please, do not enable scenario editor in the game saves.
• Please, do not play alternative games from any of the saves and do not play beyond current turn (mission year).
• The turnplayer is asked to make an "end save" before hitting "end turn" button and making it available to other players and CMN.

This all is for discussion, I think we might also add something further. Vyeh, you had some compilation of the rules somewhere here, maybe we combine them?

Join us, at least for a bit. Introduce yourself in the Wardroom and rest assured that you will be tasked with nothing more than you want to take on. If that's throwing in a word of wisdom now and then, taking a base to govern as you see fit, or taking over as faction leader, or anything in between, is up to you.

Rumors concerning recreational use of nerve stapling at the highest levels of government are greatly exaggerated!
