Mart,
Glad to hear from you. I've asked Illuminatus to move your post to this thread. I'd like to keep the turn posting thread limited only to game turns and reports.
One nice thing about the pace of this game is that there is time to think about it. I even suggested hurrying the last mineral of a CP because it might save a single energy credit if there was a hurry the next turn at BRCM.
Already, we can see some possibly suboptimal decisions.
(1) The decision to move HQ away from the sea.
(2) The decision to research Centauri Ecology. We haven't built a former and there are two other factions trying to build the Weather Paradigm. If we had not moved HQ and immediately researched Doctrine:Mobility, Doctrine:Flexibility, we could start exploring the sea earlier.
(3) The decision to build roads. While roads have expedited the movement of BRCM CP, the construction of a farm/solar collector 1 sq. E of East would be giving us more labs.
I tried (1), (2) and (3) on the original save (being careful not to explore beyond what we already knew and ending in 2110).
If we had left the HQ where it was and researched D:M followed by D:F, we would have a gunboat popping a pod in 2106.
Using the East former to build a farm/solar collector wasn't successful. It would take ten turns (2110) and we wouldn't have the expansion base as soon (since there was no road to it).
Note that I edited my last post. One of the drawbacks to democracy is having too many cooks ...
Actually, I didn't consider your comments spam since there has been so little traffic. But, then I thought about the precedent.
As the game becomes more interesting and the school year begins, maybe we'll pick up some newbies.
There have been a couple of newbies spotted in the Multiplayer forum. They're interested in TCP/IP so they wouldn't be interested in us. But if they're around, there may be some single player types.
You mean the German civ forum and gamespot, yes, in both.
No much interest though, and it looks like gamespot post got old and has been already deleted.
I don't think that is necessary. I don't think there is much of a readership there.
There was someone that had replied to my post in Civ Fanatics in June saying he hoped to be able to join the game in August.
If you are a member of Civ Fanatics, maybe you could reply to that thread asking "elgado" if his schedule has cleared up. (1) An invitation and reminder may be all it takes; (2) it will bump the thread; (3) it looks better if there are two of us.
Just my two cents:
The — still unresolved to my knowledge — compatibility problem between Mac and PC game files might have generated a lack of interest for this demgame among our fellow players.
