  • mr Rura: The only odd thing I notice in the above screenshot is that in 2101 there's a faction already very close to Gaia's Landing. Which faction?

    • Perhaps that the governor is running, but I don't think that's it...

      • No, you can see the Gaian border at the edge of the visible tiles. Your border is normally 8 tiles iirc, or halfway to the nearest opponent base if an opponent is closer than double the normal border distance.

The nearest opponent is way too close!

          • This is nothing I haven't seen before. With Spartans, you could obliterate an opponent at turn two in a situation like this (reminds me of SMAC demo days, and dash for the conquest victory).

The first screenshot was true comedy value. Bring it back

Heard about that guy who sat in ICafe for 50 hours without eating, playing games and then minutes after leaving the place died from heart attack?

well it makes up for them trading with and treatying other players but never me

Learn to overcome the crass demands of flesh and bone, for they warp the matrix through which we perceive the world. Extend your awareness outward, beyond the self of body, to embrace the self of group and the self of humanity. The goals of the group and the greater race are transcendant, and to embrace them is to acheive enlightenment.

                        • Until sanity (synonym: wife) prevailed, I sometimes played SMAC or MOO2 for 72 hours straight without rest, food, or drink. I would have continued into the 4th (5th?) day but some atavistic instinct in the dully aching brain behind my bleary eyes kept singing the siren song of "sleep". Since neither stellar converters nor planet busters could silence it, eventually I succumbed.

I've never (yet) got a heart attack from either Orion or Chiron, but Unreal Tournament gave me severe chest pains. Standing up and drinking water slowly relaxed me, and only then would the pains subside. I have had a thorough check-up since which gave the all-clear, so the agony was probably due to the sheer terror, frequent shocks, and sustained bad sitting posture as in my anxiety I lean toward the screen.

I played that the entire summer in 2001. I was running 120% speed with godlike bots and just pwning them you do better if your not in terror, shock, or anxiety though

Ive heard of these handheld devices that can take a digital picture of *gasp* the real world. They can then actualy be uploaded onto a puter ZOMGWTF!11. its true, really
