    • Nuff said. Yes purple is AI. This is why i have zero naval bases in that game...Strangely enough the AI cannot see my (yellow) naval units in the fungus, and therefore does not target them.

This game is similar to the SPDG I built in that I "encouraged" the AI's to send naval units towards their enemies, which just happened to be conveniently located on the opposite side of the human's position.
I had also thought of making this an aquatic challenge in that the Believers were aquatic to start. Perhaps in the future....

This isn't necessarily a bad strategy, as if your units come closer to the AI's bases they will "sense" the unit and attack it then. By not using their offensive units to attack here they maximize the units offensive potential instead (i.e. attacking enemy strongpoints).

I'm replaying Googlie's old "On the Horns of a Dilemma" Gaian Challenge for fun. Here is a pic that amused me...

          • Mmm, you could try to create 3000+ meter peaks around a base, so it is in a 2000+ meter valley. If you continue to do that every time the sea rises you might make it.

                Four Kilometres?! I mean... HOW?!

Planet busters or insane mineral output?

I think its a combination. Look at what Cata revealed in his screenshot: a 4X Rover, as well as boreholes and ICS out the wazoo! Combined properly (which I'm sure Cata is capable of doing) can produce results of this, um, "nature".....

Could be. Only one way to find out, though, which is to ask Cata....

                        • Once you use gas enough it starts counting as major atrocities like planet busters (so yeah 1 chopper can be the equivalent of hell lol) and reducing the clean mineral limit alot more, in a recent PBEM i had bases with 7 minerals doing 30 ecodamage even though i had plenty of tree farms and cent preserves. Once you quit using the atrocities things start to clear up and after 15-20years i had more then 70 clean mins from all the pops

Concentrate on your core and use 3000m base peaks as suggested, if you pack enough formers onto a square you can do 1 per turn and you'll save most bases (yeah accept it some are going to drown )

Be happy that you're the Hive and should have plenty of formers + WP, think of how the poor cult and angels are feeling atm

Learn to overcome the crass demands of flesh and bone, for they warp the matrix through which we perceive the world. Extend your awareness outward, beyond the self of body, to embrace the self of group and the self of humanity. The goals of the group and the greater race are transcendant, and to embrace them is to acheive enlightenment.

                          • Cata, nice pic!

It so happens I'm in that game, too, and can say that ecodamage is entirely due to nerve gas. The thing is, I (Gaians) have CF, CBA and armour 4, while Cata has 8 guns, nerve gas and industrial output about 10 times bigger than me (used to be 5 times, but he gassed me back to the stone age...).

Anyway, I was going to surrender it soon, but decided to watch just for a couple of turns more...

                            I also think Hive sucks.

                            • Ecodamage at one point was at 500+ for each base, and i had 170+ bases. No tree farms that i know of. Ecodamage is now at 60 per base after getting 20-30 pops. I am exceeding a ten thousand EC income per turn. I spent 7000 ec to upgrade 77 4x-1-10 to 8x-1-10 and sent the turn on with 6000+ EC in the bank...! All my bases are making scout patrols ATM and i expect to use pressure domes, fueled by EC, to escape the water. Because Gaia and Sparta have no industrial strength to do this, victory is inevitable of course at some point. Im just goofing off right now.

Not shown in that screenshot is the destruction of 5-6+ Gaian bases later in the turn(redish colour). I have taken 4 Gaian bases and moved perhaps 40+? units into those bases, mostly without protection. AFAIK there is no way for kirov to get them all, as he is out of choppers. I also finished off most of his interceptors this turn. His bases are almost entirely ungarrisoned, allowing me to attack with impunity with marines. He had 1-4-1 AAA in most bases, but even with CBA i was able to kill them by sacrificing jets with the idea of dropping his population. Im losing maybe 50+ units every turn.

I cant take any credit for the positions strengths or weaknesses, as bintravkin played the turn up till 2199 or so. The 2200 has looped for 6 years.
