I voted for Colonization 2. However, it could probably be made with a Civ 4 mod, as could (and is potentially) SMAC 2.
Avoid COLONY RUSH on Galactic Civlizations II (both DL & DA) with my Slow Start Mod. Finding Civ 4: Colonization too easy? Try my Ten Colonies challenge.
I voted for Alpha Centauri 2, but I am at a loss as what they could add to the game, except better graphics and mod-ability?

If it was to be AC2 - I would hope that the rare minerals from Civ3&4 are utilized in it. (As varying reducing costs of building by 10-70% andor giving access to some units etc. sooner)
A very important feature would be to have the social engineering with all the way feasible options, so that they give two good and [b]one bad[b]. (Loved it - made games much more interesting)

I agree with the Ranger. SMAC was just about perfect, so the proposed TC using the Civ4 engine would be fine. Colonization deserves at least some to the same love and attention that Civilization has had since the original.

SMAC2, which was, as said, just about perfect. But I'm sure they can add borders, resources, and other Civ4-ish stuff to update the game. I really liked the 'monuments' of resources in SMAC and think it should be kept, but now as uber-resources.
New graphics and an updated combat model would be really cool with SMAC.
Just remember to keep all the atmospherics, as that is what made it such an utterly amazing game!
I don't want another Civ so soon. Civ4 was ok right after Civ3, because I hated Civ3. But I want to have Civ4 around a while (it'll probably allow enough time for some really great mods for one) before Civ5 comes around.
