Well of course he played terrible in the NFL. He was starting for the Bears and was developed by them. Once he got into the CFL, he finally got some professional training at the QB position. I remember when he first came up. He was horrible. Once the Lions got to work with him, he was fantastic. He only threw for 2.4k yards his first season with the Lions, btw. It wasn't like he came from the NFL and tore up the CFL. No, the Lions had to actually train him how to play the position.

Despite losing his prime of his career, he is still in the top 10 Bears Quarterbacks when you look at those they drafted.

Add another 10 years like his 40 year old season at 3400 yards, and you get 58k yards. He'd have retired third all time in the NFL.

Flutie was an NFL 11th-rounder who played for Donald Trump in the USFL his rookie year. The Bears acquired his rights from the Rams at the trading deadline his 2nd year (1986), and only out of desperation. He was 4th on their QB depth chart, but McMahon was out for the year (the Charles Martin hit), and both Tomczak and Steve Fuller were also beat up. That's the only reason he ever saw the field.

A NFL team in Vegas...

Will the Oakland Raiders really move to Vegas.

Yes, the league does have problems with the gambling aspect, but I don't think that's really that big of an issue. You can bet anywhere via the internet so what difference do casinos make. There are casinos less than 20 minutes from where the Bears play, and nobody has ever mentioned that.

The real issue seems to be whether Vegas can support a NFL franchise. It is not one of the larger markets. It ranks about 40th depending on what you use for measurement. Plus, it's the largest city in the country for transplants, even worse than Arizona or Florida. People come to live in Vegas with NFL loyalties already in place.

Now, the best argument is that fans will have an excuse for a road trip to see their teams play. But, if you expect even 10,000 visiting fans to help fill the stadium, that's about 65-70 full flights (on a 737) with nothing but people planning to go to the game. If you've had the thought that 25,000 visiting people will help fill Vegas' stadium every single week, do the math. That's not realistic.

So, should Vegas be seriously considered, or is it just a ruse for teams to help get stadiums built in their own markets... simply blackmail

Vegas isn't big enough and with the market as it is there - it's not going to be big enough to support the Vegas Raiders.

San Antonio would be a better choice, but I think they prefer the San Antonio Chargers.
